Pingtung Bluefin Tuna Culture Season 2019 First tuna confirmed! Donggang District Fishery Association on the 17th for the Ryukyu fishing boat "Mantaifeng 2" caught bluefin tuna "body identification", confirmed that the hook live fish, fishing sea area and so on meet the first tuna conditions, and weight more than 180 kg, won this year's bluefin tuna season "first tuna" first harvest.

After confirming the first tuna, the Pingtung County government and Donggang Fishery Association immediately decided on the auction time. At 10:30 a.m. on April 20, the first tuna auction was held at Donggang Fish Market. Pan Mengan, the county magistrate, served as the auctioneer. On the same day, there were also warm-up performances and tasting activities. Villagers are welcome to join hands to witness the auction price of the first tuna.

Donggang District Fisheries Radio Station received a notification from Ryukyu fishing boat "Mantafeng No.2" at 11:00 a.m. on the 15th. At about 6:00 a.m. or 7:00 a.m., a bluefin tuna (male tuna) was caught in the southeast waters of Green Island at 20 degrees 7 minutes north latitude and 122 degrees 58 minutes east longitude. The visual weight was about 200kg. In order to compete for the title of first tuna, Captain Hong Baihong quickly returned to Hong Kong. At 3:00 p.m. on the 16th, he returned to Donggang. The Donggang District Fishery Association immediately conducted fish inspection on the morning of the 17th to confirm whether it was the "first tuna". Many people also heard the wind to see the first tuna.

When the bluefin tuna slowly emerged from the hold of the "Man Dafeng 2", the strong body of the fish made the onlookers exclaim. The appraisal committee judged whether the bluefin tuna was a live fish from the eyes, mouth, skin gloss and belly tail color. The weight was first weighed to confirm the weight. Finally, Lin Han-chou, director general of the Fisheries Association, announced that Man Dafeng 2 won the first tuna head.

Hong Baihong, 38, started fishing with his father at the age of 25. After his father retired more than seven years ago, he took over as captain. In just seven years, he caught the first tuna, setting a record for catching the first tuna in the shortest time from fishing.
