Chayote is a plant of Cucurbitaceae, which is widely distributed in southern China. Chayote nutritional value is relatively high, rich in protein, fat and other nutrients. Now the cultivation area of chayote is also increasing. So how do we reproduce chayote when we grow it? The following small series brings you the breeding method of chayote. Let's take a look together!

1. Whole melon propagation

Whole melon propagation is the main propagation method of chayote. First of all, we need to choose a high-quality seed melon, which should be fully mature without obvious wounds, frostbite and pests. Keep the weight at about 250g, and then put the melon in wet sand to maintain proper temperature and humidity. The temperature is controlled at about 16 degrees, and after about two weeks, the top of the melon will begin to sprout. When most of the seeds sprout, they can be transplanted properly into the soil. When transplanting, the budding part will be upward, maintain a certain inclination, and do a good job in management.

2. Seed reproduction

Seed reproduction begins with removing intact seeds from the melon. After seed is taken, the outer skin of the seed is separated, and the seed core is reserved. If the seeds are dry, they should be eliminated as soon as possible. Not only is the germination rate low, but the growth ability of the plants grown out is also very weak. Then put the high-quality seeds in warm water for 1-2 hours or so to do germination work. Then according to the environment, germination and other timely sowing. After sowing, soil should be covered with film to improve the heat preservation and moisture retention ability of the soil, and the temperature should be controlled at about 20 degrees Celsius. Then appropriate watering, about an hour or so can emerge.

3. Cutting propagation

Cuttage propagation suitable for the propagation of many plants, of course, chayote is no exception. The first step is to select a plant that is robust and free of pests as the mother plant. Then cut branches as cuttings on the plant, daub appropriate amount of rooting powder on the cut mouth to improve the rooting rate of cuttings. Then insert cuttings into cutting matrix, matrix to ensure adequate fertility, normal irrigation and thick soft. Control good cuttage density, then irrigate enough water, temperature is maintained at about 22 degrees. This rooting rate can reach 80%, and about 7 days can root.

The above is a simple introduction to the method of chayote reproduction. There are many methods of propagation of chayote, mainly according to their own planting habits, environment and other reasonable choice of good propagation methods. Today's introduction is here, this article is for reference only, I hope to be able to help everyone!
