Rambutan can reproduce both sexually and asexually, but we usually use asexual reproduction in production. However, what the editor wants to share with you today is the seedling technology of sexual reproduction of rambutan, because asexual reproduction is the basis of asexual reproduction, because seedlings are usually used as rootstock seedlings. Then let's learn the following content together.

1. Seed selection and washing

In order to ensure the quality of rambutan seedlings, we also pay great attention to seed selection. First of all, we should choose excellent rambutan varieties according to the specific local conditions, such as the high-yielding Baoyan No. 5 seed. The second is to choose full seeds, no mildew, no spots, no diseases and insect pests. After selecting the seeds, wash the seeds in clean water and clean up the residual sugar or other substances on the seeds, preferably two or three times to avoid not washing them.

2. Seedbed preparation

After we have selected the seeds, we need to prepare the seedbed for construction. Generally, we choose to build sand beds in places with shade. Coarse river sand should be chosen for sand bed, but fine river sand is not suitable for rambutan breeding, because it will affect the sprouting of rambutan. The second is that we should reasonably plan the size of the seedling bed, mainly according to the number of seeds sown. The height of the seedbed should be controlled at about 18 to 20 centimeters, and the width is about 1 meter to 1.5 meters, so as to manage the seedling stage in the later stage. Finally, the seedbed should be arranged and leveled, and drainage measures should be taken to avoid rotten seeds.

3. Budding treatment

Rambutan seeds need to be germinated before sowing, which can improve the germination rate of seeds. The selected seeds will be placed evenly on the sand bed with the selected seeds eyes down, and it is best to be properly compacted, so as to improve the budding speed of the seeds. After the seeds are placed, they should be covered with a thin layer of river sand to achieve the effect of heat preservation and moisturization. finally, a sunshade net should be set up on the seedling bed to adjust the light intensity, and the seedling bed should be watered thoroughly. During the period of sprouting, we also need to spray trichlorfon solution, which can prevent the harm of pests to seeds.

4. Seedling management

Sprouting usually takes half a month to 20 or so, during which time we should keep the seedbed moist, that is to say, we should spray water frequently, but the amount of water should be moderate, because too dry or too wet are not conducive to seed germination. When the weather is cool, you can spray water once a day, but if it is sunny, you need to spray it sooner or later; and if you encounter rainy weather, you need to drain water in time. In addition, there will be weeds in the field before the seeds sprout, so we have to pull weeds manually. After the seed emerges, it needs to stop for a period of time without watering, let it adapt to the environment, wait five days before watering, and at the same time appropriate topdressing to promote the growth of seedlings.

Rambutan uses seeds to propagate seedlings, which is basically like this. In fact, its seed reproduction is relatively simple, but if you want to plant on a large scale, it is appropriate to use other ways of reproduction.
