The government has promoted the incentive afforestation program for more than a decade, but as the 20-year program expires one after another, the front-end quality and back-end sales of domestic wood face difficulties. The Forestry Bureau announced today (15) the "Forestry Multi-tutoring Program". Based on the current incentive afforestation policy, additional subsidies such as tending and thinning will be increased to guide forest farmers to produce high-quality wood. According to the trial calculation of the 20-year period, the Forestry Bureau can receive more than 2 million yuan from afforestation incentive fund, tending and thinning subsidy, machinery subsidy, verification fee subsidy, etc.

In addition to forest production, the Forestry Bureau also promotes forestry towards multiple aspects such as forest healing and underforest economy. For security forests and highly environmentally sensitive areas, which are not suitable for the above-mentioned developers, it is also planned to provide friendly environmental compensation, and it is expected that there will be a specific compensation plan by the end of this year.

Chen Jizhong, chairman of the Council of Agriculture, said that from the perspective of sustainable ecology and soil and water conservation, much of the contribution of forests to the environment has been ignored. At present, 99% of the wood used in China depends on imports, and he hopes to increase the self-sufficiency rate of domestic wood from 1% to 5%, and make appropriate use of existing resources. He stressed that forests in environmentally sensitive areas must be compensated to support the positive environmental effects of forestry on environmental ecology, soil and water conservation and so on.
