Fig is a kind of fruit with tenacious vitality. It can grow normally no matter where it is planted. Many people think that it does not blossom. In fact, it is flowering, but its flowering period is very short. So how to manage figs? Let's take a look at the detailed introduction.

1. Ploughing and weeding

Young trees should be ploughed and weeded once in spring, summer and winter, and soil cultivation should be combined with soil cultivation in winter to avoid frost damage of roots. Adult trees should be ploughed during the dormant period, and weeds should be covered in summer to avoid weeds and protect soil moisture. If there are still weeds, you can mow the grass to cover the root system, intercropping crops properly in winter, and pay attention to cold prevention in cold areas in winter.

2. Fertilization

The adult orchard consumes 8-10 kg of nitrogen, 5-8 kg of phosphorus and 8-10 kg of potassium per mu. There are no restrictions on the types of fertilization, but it is mainly compost, farm manure and plant ash. The basic fertilizer should be applied during the dormant period of figs, of which nitrogen fertilizer accounts for 2/3, potassium accounts for half, all phosphate fertilizer can be applied, and other fertilizers can be applied from June to July. Fig shoot growth period and fruit harvest period are very long, so the supply of nitrogen and potassium fertilizer should be extended accordingly, not in the middle.

3. Drainage and irrigation

When planted in the land with heavy soil, the roots of the plants are distributed on the surface of the soil. In case of a hot climate, the ground is dry and vulnerable to drought, so it is necessary to water in time to supplement soil moisture and promote root growth. On the land where there is no intercropping, grass should be covered for heat preservation and moisturization in summer, which can not only part of the surface fibrous root, but also increase the content of soil organic matter and increase soil fertility. When planting in low-lying terrain, or less improper watering or stagnant water after rain, it should be drained in time to avoid retting roots.

4. Pruning

In order to control the plant type and improve the seed setting rate, proper pruning should be carried out every year when the plant is dormant, specifically pruning into main branches and secondary branches. In order to shape familiarity, the three main branches of young trees should be cut short by about 60 cm, leaving a cut bud at the end to extend in the same direction. When the extended branch grows to a certain extent, the length of the extended branch should not exceed that of the main branch, and the subordinate thanks should be determined.
