How to grow nettles
We all know that nettle is mainly used in textile manufacturing and is one of the raw materials of cloth. But if we know more about nettle, we know that it can be used as medicine and can be used to dispel rheumatism, and its leaves can also be used as feed. The cultivation of nettle in China has a long history, but due to the rise of retro style in recent years, nettle cultivation has entered a new era. So do you know how to grow nettles? Next, let's study together.
1. Improvement of soil and fertilizer
Nettles are very resistant. In the past, wild nettles can be seen in many places in rural areas, but now they can only be seen in some remote mountain villages. Nettles have no requirements on the soil of the planting site, as long as flat, well-drained, high-porosity plots can be planted. In order to improve the survival rate of nettle planting and its yield, soil preparation will be carried out after selecting the planting site, and soil preparation will be carried out combined with base fertilizer, which is better to use chicken manure, duck manure and so on. After mixing the base fertilizer and soil evenly, the ground is leveled and ditched to make a bed.
2. Scientific planting
When we plant nettles, we usually plant nettles by sowing seeds. Seed sowing is very simple, but it should be noted that there is a difference between nettle seedlings and other crops, that is, it is best to use pot seedlings, so that the emergence rate of nettles is relatively high. Spread the selected seeds evenly in the basin, then cover with a thin layer of nutritious soil, then pour the soil thoroughly, and you can wait for seedlings to emerge. Of course, we can also use ramet planting, but it requires more roots, so it is generally not suitable for large-scale planting.
3. Field management
The seeds usually emerge about half a month after sowing. We should pour enough bottom water at the seedling stage to promote the growth of the seedlings. When the seedlings grow to about eight to ten centimeters, we can transplant them. When transplanting, we usually plant according to the density of row spacing of 70 cm and plant spacing of 20 cm. Watering should be carried out in time after nettle planting to promote the growth of new roots and improve the survival rate of nettle. After nettle survives, weeding should be carried out as soon as possible to reduce the loss of nutrients, at the same time, it can also enhance soil permeability and promote the growth of nettle. In the process of nettle growth, topdressing and watering should be carried out scientifically, generally, topdressing is not needed when the base fertilizer is sufficient, but if the nettle has coconut yellowing or the plant is weak, it needs appropriate topdressing nitrogen fertilizer and watering with water to improve the utilization rate of nutrients.
4. Disease and pest control
If nettle is well managed in the process of planting, there are few diseases and insect pests, because its disease resistance is very strong. However, powdery mildew may also occur in high temperature weather. We can use a white doctor to prevent and cure powdery mildew. Of course, we should also pay attention to the prevention of insect pests, generally more common are aphids, leaf miners and caterpillars, aphids and caterpillars we can use dimethoate to spray, and leaf miners had better be sprayed with insecticide.
The cultivation of nettle is indeed very simple, and the field management is also very easy, so its planting technology is very easy to master. Of course, if you want to know more about nettles, you can follow us. I'm sure you'll find the answer you want.
