The Organic Agriculture Promotion Law was passed last year (107), which incorporated "environment-friendly farming" into organic agriculture extension projects. However, at present, most of the relevant norms and guidance policies are based on the production of agricultural crops. However, there is a lack of relevant policy guidance and norms for animal husbandry and aquaculture.

Legislator Tsai Peihui, in collaboration with the Taiwan Animal Society Research Association, held a press conference yesterday to demand that the "Organic Agriculture Promotion Law" should cover animal husbandry and aquaculture. The Council of Agriculture is also required to put forward relevant norms and guidance measures within six months. So that farmers who are interested in investing in friendly livestock and aquatic products can have more standards to follow.

In terms of aquaculture, Lin Zongshan, a researcher in the aquaculture and fisheries group, responded that at present, there is no definition of "friendly aquatic products" in fisheries-related laws and regulations, and clear regulations will be discussed. at present, the Fisheries Department advises fishermen to do friendly aquaculture, encourages fishermen to use energy-saving water trucks, green energy equipment, and so on, accounting for about 10% of the domestic aquaculture industry. He expressed the hope that the opinions of the industry will be widely accepted and will be discussed with the industry in the near future to see where the laws and regulations need to be supplemented or more implemented.

Aquaculture Fisheries Association: promote Youshan aquatic products, need to do a good market research

Chen Youying, director-general of the Pingtung County Aquaculture and Fisheries Development Association, said that over the past decade, the economy of aquaculture in China has increased, and friendly farming has been neglected. If more people are involved in eco-friendly production, they will be very happy to see it succeed. He further said that if the Government wanted to provide guidance on friendly aquatic products, the "sales market" would be the focus of concern of fishermen. Tutoring friendly aquaculture methods and scholars' assistance are necessary, but if fishermen are really reassured to invest, the key point is whether the market is sold and who will pay the bill.

He says that at present, whether for domestic or export sales, fishermen almost fumble for "what kind of fish to raise and what kind of fish the market likes to eat." he suggests that if you really want to promote friendly aquatic products, good market research is the most important thing.

At the meeting, Tsai Pei-hui and the Taiwan Animal Society Research Association put forward two demands. First of all, the Organic Agriculture Promotion Act and related sub-laws should cover friendly environmental animal husbandry production and aquaculture. In addition, the Council of Agriculture is required to incorporate environmentally friendly animal husbandry and aquaculture into environmentally friendly production within six months, and formulate relevant norms and clear guidance measures, not just "guidelines." Cai Peihui also said that the Legislative Yuan will also propose to amend the law to speed up the completion of the Law on the Promotion of Organic Agriculture.
