White clover short-term perennial herb, heads borne in leaf axils, pedicels long. Butterfly-shaped corolla, white or pink, receptacle cup-shaped tomentose, each inflorescence has 20 - 40 florets. Do you know how to plant white clover seeds? What's it for? Taproot is shorter, lateral root is developed, much tubercle.

1. White clover seed planting method

1. Sowing and seed treatment. The best sowing time of white clover is spring and autumn, the optimum growth temperature is 19-240C, spring sowing can be from the end of March to the end of April, the temperature is stable above 150C can be seeded. Autumn sowing is generally from mid-to late September. Before sowing, seed soaking treatment should be carried out. Each catty of seed should be soaked in 1.5 kg of water and 1 g of ammonium molybdate for 12 hours. After 5-10 kg of calcium magnesium phosphate and 5-10 kg of fine soil or yellow sand are added, sowing should be carried out.

2. Soil preparation. White clover seeds are small, seedlings top soil force is poor, must be raked before sowing, in order to facilitate emergence. When planting in areas with heavy soil and heavy precipitation, furrows should be dug to facilitate drainage. Mountain planting and utilization of fresh grass, it is appropriate to choose a more shady or humid soil area for planting. Orchard interplanting before sowing fruit trees need to be weeded loose soil, will level the ground, in the rain before 1-2 days sowing.

3. Cultivation methods. Fruit trees can be planted in rows, broadcast or drill, with rows spacing of 15 cm. Sowing should be shallow not deep, generally 0.5-1.5 cm. Unicast, sowing rate 0.5-0.75 kg per mu, broadcast or drill, row spacing 30 cm. It is better to dress seeds with the same amount of fertile soil and sow them. Mixed with oxtail grass, ryegrass, etc., the seeding rate should be reduced appropriately. Weeds should be removed at the seedling stage in time to facilitate the formation of white clover.

4. Fertilization. White clover belongs to leguminous plant, it has nitrogen-fixing ability, but rhizobia has not been produced in seedling stage, so it needs to supplement a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer. Applying a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer is beneficial to strong seedling, and increasing phosphorus and potassium fertilizer has a good effect on yield increase. After the turf is formed, only phosphorus and potassium fertilizers need to be supplemented. Before sowing, apply 20-25 kg of calcium superphosphate per mu and a certain amount of manure as base fertilizer. When the seedlings are short and the leaves are yellow, a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be applied. Generally, urea 2.5 kg, potassium fertilizer 5 kg, calcium magnesium phosphate fertilizer 5 kg should be applied 15 days after emergence to promote strong seedlings and improve grass yield.

5. Field management. White clover seedlings grow slowly, vulnerable to weeds, seedlings should be frequent weed removal, spring sowing should be more so. Sowing in September, budding and flowering in April of the following year, blooming in the middle of May, grass height of 15-20 cm in flowering, is the appropriate time for cutting and utilization. After mowing, the regeneration ability is strong, and the second crop grass layer is quickly formed to cover the grassland. During the hot season, white clover stops growing. Large weeds should be removed in a timely manner within 2-3 years after the formation of grass cover. If there is a lack of seedlings due to high temperature and drought in summer, it can be replanted in autumn to restore grassland productivity. If a large area is planted as grazing land, light grazing can be carried out 1-2 months after sowing when the weed height is 20-25 cm to inhibit weed growth. White clover disease is few, but harvest is not timely, sometimes brown spot disease, powdery mildew occurs, can be cut first use, then use bordeaux mixture, stone sulfur mixture or carbendazim control.

Second, what is the use of planting white clover

[Landscape use] White clover flowers and leaves have ornamental value, green period is long, flowering period is long, not resistant to trampling, can be used as path ditch edge, bank slope protection lawn and factories, institutions, schools and other green enclosed lawn, can also be used as grass, green manure, whole grass can be used as medicine. White clover seed

[Feeding value] grass palatability is excellent, for all kinds of livestock favorite, nutritional components and digestibility are higher than alfalfa, red clover. In natural grassland, the forage value of grass group also increased with the increase of white clover proportion.
