Start melon seeds indoors in a seed starting mixture or a good soil mixture at least 3-5 weeks before the final frost date. Sow 3-4 seeds in a 3-4-inch basin. Keep the soil moist and keep the temperature between 27-30 °C (80-90 °). Once the seedlings appear, lower the temperature to 24 °C (75 °F) for about a week until the first true leaf begins to appear.
