Breeding method of Yushu

Yushu, also known as Swallow Palm, originated in southern Africa. Likes warm, dry and sunny environments. Not cold, afraid of strong light, slightly tolerant of shade. It is a landscape plant with high ornamental value. Today, we will learn about the breeding methods of Yushu.

The common method of propagation of Yushu is insertion propagation. Generally, the lateral branches with leaves are selected from the plants with good growth potential and many lateral branches. The cuttings are 8~12 cm long. They are placed in a cool and ventilated place to dry for 1~2 days, so that the incision is slightly dried, and then inserted into the sand bed for propagation; the main stem leaves can also be picked. After the incision is slightly dried, insert them into the sand bed, maintain 20~25℃ and appropriate humidity, and take root in about half a month.

Planting or pot changing before Yushu starts to grow in early spring. Basin soil requirements loose, fertile, good drainage. Generally, 2 parts of rotten leaf soil or peat soil, 2 parts of garden soil, 3 parts of coarse sand, 1 part of limestone gravel, or 3 parts of rotten leaf soil, 3 parts of garden soil, 3 parts of coarse sand, 1 part of bone meal and 1 part of plant ash are fully mixed as pot soil. Disinfect the soil before using it. Disinfection method: spray 400- 500ml formalin solution (containing 40% formaldehyde) on one cubic meter of culture soil, cover it with plastic film and seal it tightly after mixing. 2-4 hour. uncovering the film and airing for 3-4 days, and using after the liquid medicine volatilizes; and secondly, putting the culture soil into a container for steaming and heating for disinfection. When steaming, the culture soil should have a certain humidity, heating temperature 80℃, steaming for 2 hours. After 7 days, steam again. It can be used after drying. Avoid watering immediately after planting, should be shaded or placed in the shade, after 4-5 days, then irrigate 1 permeable, and gradually increase the light. When the root system in the basin soil is full and the drainage permeability is poor, the soil should be replaced. If conditions permit, it is best to change the basin soil once a year.
