Truffle ingredients in exotic high-end cuisine can now be found in Taiwan! The Forestry Experimental Institute of the Council of Agriculture (hereinafter referred to as Lin Test Institute) held a press conference today (5). It was released in Xitou, Nantou, a new variety of truffles found in the world, "Deep vein Truffle". It is also the first officially published white truffle in Taiwan. large diameter, white truffle, strong smell, are all the characteristics of "deep vein truffle". Zhang Bin, director of the Forest testing Institute, said that truffles have high added value and are an important part of the underforest economy. The international certification of "deep vein truffles" is a new milestone in the underforest economy. I hope that domestic manufacturers will transfer their skills to the forest testing institute and jointly develop the truffle industry for the domestic market.

Exploring truffles requires focused endurance, and the process is thrilling.

Searching for truffles is like mountain camping, not only with equipment, but also without concentration, endurance and memory. Fu Chunxu cited the search for "spruce truffles" as an example. He said that the team, carrying heavy equipment, walked through the ancient Batongguan Road in the mountains and forests, and had to dig into the earth with their bare hands in hot spots. After six days and five nights, they still found nothing.

When he was physically and mentally exhausted, he suddenly remembered that in other fieldwork experience, he had dug a "white thing" under a waterfall. At that time, the instructor instructed that "that is underground abdominal bacteria, not the purpose of research." he put aside the "white thing". However, the memory of this fieldwork has become the only important clue to the discovery of spruce truffles. Fu Chunxu also launched a map to trace back to the possible location of truffles. On the other hand, Deep vein Truffle was discovered by the team in Nantou Xitou in March last year.

The host of "Deep vein Truffle" is oil shirt, the first international case.

In addition to its large appearance, white truffle and strong smell, the "deep vein truffle" is also unique in its environmental conditions. Lin Jielong said that most of the truffles in other countries are hosted on trees such as birch pine, spruce, and Fagaceae. The "deep vein truffle" was found in oil shirts, which is the first case in the world.

Another project researcher, Huang Jinhui, added that in general, truffles like to grow in alkaline soil because other crops are more difficult to grow in them, and truffles have fewer "competitors". However, the "deep vein truffle" can also grow in acidic soil, while Taiwan's soil is mostly acidic, which also represents the development of the domestic truffle industry in terms of environmental conditions.

Fu Chunxu said that due to the scarcity of "deep vein truffles," he is currently working with the Experimental Forest Management Department of National Taiwan University to carry out in-situ restoration at the site found in Xitou. In addition, inoculation experiments of other different tree species were also carried out. According to data from the Ministry of Finance, Taiwan's average import volume in the past five years is about 210 tons, with the main importing regions being China, Poland and Italy.

Zhang Bin said that in the case of "deep vein truffles", the current number is only a dozen, and it has not yet formed a market. In this regard, Fu further said that it takes eight years for truffles to grow and pick. At present, the strain technology has been completed, and it is hoped that the technology can be transferred as soon as possible in the year of 2020 to promote the domestic truffle industry.
