Since female fruit flies can lay eggs to death for life after one mating, a total of about 1000 eggs can be laid. In order to reduce the chance of fruit flies mating, male flies need to be killed first.

Huang Yubin called on farmers to set up control materials as soon as possible in order to prevent the mass reproduction of fruit flies. For adults of fruit flies that have already hatched, a strong bait can be set up, which contains protein hydrolysates, which can attract fruit flies to get close to feeding, so as to poison fruit flies to achieve the control effect.

As for the prevention and control of melon fruit flies, Huang Yubin mentioned that as the melon or loofah orchards in Zhuangwei Township of Ilan and Kaohsiung communities have been harvested, the discarded fruits will form the fruit source of melon fruit flies, so that the average density of melon fruit flies has increased slightly compared with the same period last year. It is suggested that farmers use chemical bait to control the number of melon fruit flies, and pay attention to the cleanliness of the environment of the melon garden, and bind the abandoned melons with plastic bags. Dispose of it together with combustible waste.
