Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Golden Diamond belongs to Araceae, is a popular evergreen foliage plant, short stems, clusters, large and strange leaves, thick green and smooth, and more tolerant of shade, and can withstand low temperature of about 5℃, suitable for indoor viewing, according to plant size, display in the hall, living room, decoration in the study, hall and other places

The common method of propagation of golden diamond is to split the plant, that is, to cut off the small plant from the stem of the plant with a knife and cultivate it in the pot. This paper introduces two propagation methods adopted by the author to break the apical advantage, promote the latent bud germination and quickly grow into plants.

1. The method of cutting stems to promote germination

In the golden diamond growing vigorously from late April to late June, or from late August to early October, the plants with stem diameter of 7cm~10cm and height of about 15cm~30cm were cut flat at the top of the stem with a sharp knife, and the stem length was about 4cm~5cm, leaving 1 ~ 2 aerial roots and a larger leaf, and the rest of the leaves were removed. The cut should be covered with sugar ash, and the cut stem should be dried slightly and planted in a pot. New leaves can be sent out in about a week, and a new plant with ornamental value will be formed. After being cut, the apical dominance was broken. After 1 ~ 2 weeks, 2 ~ 3 latent adventitious buds germinated at the edge and base of the stem. When the small plant grew to 3 ~ 4 leaves, it was cut and planted with a sharp knife together with the root, and the mother plant could still be used. In general, in the growing period, a mother gold drill can reproduce 8 ~ 10 new plants by this method, and the molding time is short.

2. The method of cutting the top bud to promote germination

In summer and autumn in August. In October, the apical bud of the mother plant was cut off with a sharp knife, and its growing point was cut off. After the apical dominance was broken, 2 ~ 3 lateral buds would sprout on the stem in about 2 weeks. Don't rush to cut them off. Wait until April of the following year, when the stem formed by lateral bud germination is as high as 6cm~7cm, with 4 4cm~5cm in diameter. 5 leaves, 4 ~ 5 roots, is already a small golden diamond for ornamental use, then cut off, put on the pot, and the mother plant will continue to be used. After about 1 ~ 2 weeks, 2 ~ 3 buds can be sprouted at the base of the stem, and when the plantlets formed by the buds grow to 3. 4 leaves, the mother plant can still be retained and latent buds will sprout from the base. If the plantlets are not removed, the latent buds are generally not easy to germinate, but the plants are too small and cut away from the mother without roots, rooting and growing slowly after potting.

Go to the top to promote the breeding of golden diamond

Chunyu is a popular foliage plant. However, the seeds are not easy to obtain, and it is difficult to propagate seedlings. If the split plant method is used, it is not easy to germinate lateral buds under normal circumstances. The method of removing the top to promote sprouting and breeding spring feather is not only simple and easy, but also has the best effect.

When the temperature is high in summer and autumn, the apical bud of the mother plant of spring feather is removed with a sharp knife. When removing the apical bud, be sure to gouge out the apical growth point thoroughly. After about 1-2 weeks, the stem can quickly produce lateral buds in the bud eye at the base. A spring feather seedling with a stem height of about 20 cm can force out more than 10 or more lateral buds on the stem at the same time.

When the lateral buds sprouting from the dry bud eye of spring feather stem are 8cm and 10cm, choose fine weather and cut off each bud with stem block with a sharp knife, more rootless plantlets can be obtained. When cutting the stem and ramet, if the daughter plant has 1 or 2 roots attached, it can be planted in the pot directly.

In order to prevent the cut offspring from rotting directly on the basin, the incisions of young plants can be smeared with sulfur powder or clean plant ash, and then buried in the pure river sand after a little air, leaving only the sprouts outside the sand to facilitate wound healing and differentiate into new roots as soon as possible. Don't irrigate too much water at the early stage of root promotion, just keep the river sand wet and wait for it to produce intact roots before transplanting the soil basin.

How to split a golden diamond without sprouting tillers?

Golden diamond is a popular foliage plant, but its seeds are not easy to obtain and it is difficult to propagate seedlings. If the split method is used, it is not easy to sprout lateral buds. The method of peeling to promote sprouting and breeding golden diamond is not only simple and easy, but also has the best effect.

When the temperature is high in summer and autumn, the terminal bud of the mother plant of golden diamond is removed with a sharp knife. Be sure to gouge out the apical growth point thoroughly when removing the apical bud. After about 1-2 weeks, the bud eye at the base of the stem can sprout lateral buds quickly. A golden diamond with a stem height of about 20 cm can force out more than 10 or more lateral buds on the stem at the same time.

When the sprouting lateral buds on the dry bud eye of the golden diamond stem are 8cm and 10cm, choose sunny weather and cut off each bud with stem block with a sharp knife, more rootless plantlets can be obtained. When cutting the stem and ramet, if the daughter plant has 1 or 2 roots attached, it can be planted in the pot directly.
