Acer truncatum is a kind of tree species with good ornamental effect, which is often used in landscape design and courtyard decoration, and it is also an excellent street tree species.

I. Propagation method of Acer truncatum

2. Land selection and land preparation: the nursery should choose sandy loam, and the topography is flat, drainage and irrigation is convenient, and the soil layer is deep and fertile. After winter preparation, the mu is fertilized with rotten cow and horse manure of 3000kg to 5000kg and built to be leveled for use. Sow the following spring.

3. Seed treatment: soak the seeds in 40 degrees warm water for 30 minutes before sowing, then soak them in cold water for 1 day, fish them out and place them in the leeward and sunny place, and rinse them with warm water once a day. After more than half of the seeds are cracked, they can be sown in the nursery.

3. Sowing method: Acer truncatum generally uses strip sowing, row spacing is about 30 cm, sowing depth is 2 cm, sowing 15-20 kg per mu, and overlying soil is 1.5 cm. Point some water when sowing and cover the grass to keep the soil moist. The grass can be removed after germination after about 15 days. After the seedling grows to about 10 cm, choose to interplant and fix the seedling on a cloudy day, with a distance of 10-15 cm.

2. Water and fertilizer management of Acer truncatum

1. Fertilization: Yuanbao maple likes fertilizer. When transplanting, some rotten fermented circle fertilizer should be used as base fertilizer, and the base fertilizer should be fully mixed with the planting soil. Some nitrogen fertilizer can be applied in early summer, which is beneficial to restore the tree potential and accelerate the growth of branches and leaves. At the end of autumn, combined with frozen water, apply rotten leaf fertilizer or cow and horse manure. In the following year, nitrogen fertilizer was applied once at the beginning of April, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer at the beginning of July, and cow and horse manure at the end of autumn. From the third year, it is only necessary to apply cow and horse manure once a year in spring.

2. Watering: attention should be paid to water management during cultivation. The first three water should be watered well when transplanting, and then water should be watered once a month. After each time, the soil should be loosened to preserve soil moisture. On rainy days in summer, watering should be reduced or not watered. If there is stagnant water in the tree plate, it should be eliminated in time. Cold water should be poured thoroughly at the end of autumn. The thawing water should be irrigated in time in the early spring of the following year. April and May are the periods of rapid rise in temperature, and it is also during the spring monsoon period in North China. In these two months, water can be irrigated every half a month, which can effectively provide water for plant growth and benefit the plant to grow roots and leaves. After that, it can be watered once a month.

Third, the difference between Acer truncatum and Acer truncatum

Acer truncatum and Acer truncatum are both trees of the genus Acer in the Aceraceae family, with beautiful tree shape, beautiful leaves and fruits, and red leaves in autumn; Acer truncatum trunks are generally about 13 meters, weak, while Acer trunks are more than 20 meters high; Acer truncatum dry bark is grayish yellow, shallowly longitudinally split, branchlets gray-yellow (annual branches tender green), smooth and glabrous On the other hand, the dry skin of Acer truncatum is thin and grayish brown, and the twigs are sparsely hairy when they just grow, and then gradually fall off. Both are simple opposite leaves with palmately lobed leaves.

But Yuanbao maple leaf palmately five-lobed, sometimes the middle lobe is divided into two parts, the lobe apex acuminate, the leaf base is usually truncated, sparse heart-shaped, both sides are glabrous. The palm-shaped leaves of Acer truncatum are often five-lobed, lobes are broadly triangular, entire, both sides are glabrous or only abaxially veined leaves are hairy, reticular veins are obviously raised on both sides, and the base is often heart-shaped; the fruit of Acer truncatum is obtuse, and the wings of Acer truncatum are slightly spread into right angles.

Although Acer truncatum and Acer truncatum look similar in appearance, if you take a closer look, you can tell the difference between them. However, both of them are good choices for decorating the home courtyard, and the relatively small tree species can also be used for potted culture and beautify the room, so we can choose to breed according to our own hobbies.
