Tassel tree is a kind of tree species with high ornamental value. It not only has ornamental value, but also can be used to graft sweet-scented osmanthus and change into "sweet-scented osmanthus tree". Isn't it amazing?

1. Introduction of tassel tree

Tassel tree, also known as radish silk flower, tea tree, April snow and so on, Oleaceae, tassel tree is a deciduous tree. It can be up to 20 meters high. Branchlets gray-brown or black-gray, Terete, spreading, glabrous, young branchlets yellowish or brown, sparsely or densely pubescent. The young leaves of tassel tree can replace tea and have certain medicinal value, its material is good, it can be used for making utensils and cabinetwork, tassel tree has luxuriant branches and leaves, large and beautiful flowers, and strong stress resistance, so it is an excellent afforestation and ornamental tree species; the fruit has high oil content and is also an important energy plant.

Second, the growth habits of tassel trees.

Tassel trees like light, are not resistant to shade, cold and early, avoid stagnant water, have slow growth rate, long life, barren resistance, and are not strict with the soil, but they grow best in fertile and permeable sandy loam soil, have a certain saline-alkali tolerance, and can grow normally in pH8.7 and mild saline-alkali soil with 0.2% salt content without any adverse reactions. Like the light, but also more resistant to yin. Like warm climate, but also quite hardy. Like neutral and slightly acidic soil, resistant to drought and barren, not resistant to waterlogging. Live in sparse mixed forests or thickets, or hillsides and riversides below 3000 meters above sea level. There are cultivation all over the country.

Third, the planting method of tassel tree

1. Tassel seeds are stored in sand until March of the following year, when the seeds are about 30% white, they should be sown in the whole bed at the right time.

two。 Nursery land should choose good drainage, convenient irrigation, deep and fertile land. The seedlings in North China were sown in high ridges in the field. It is generally required that the distance between the ridges is 30 cm, the height of the ridge is 20 cm, and the width of the ridge is 50 cm.

3. Apply enough basic fertilizer and open two rows of sowing ditches on both sides of each ridge. The row spacing of the sowing ditch on the top of the ridge is 30 to 40 centimeters, and the depth of the sowing ditch is 2 meters.

4. Sow the germinated seeds evenly in the sowing ditch, sowing 15 kg to 20 kg per mu, then cover the seeds with fine soil and cover with grass to moisturize. In case of dry weather, can be watered in the furrow, in order to make the seeds wet, watering must not make the ridge over water, otherwise the soil is easy to harden.

5. A month after sowing, the seedlings began to unearth.

6. When the temperature is high and the light is strong, we should build a shade shed in time to shade. If the seedlings are too dense, the seedlings can be separated properly. In summer, the nursery should be ploughed and weeded frequently to keep the soil loose.

Fourth, how tassel trees graft sweet-scented osmanthus

1. Cultivate rootstocks: the rootstocks for grafting should grow healthily and free from diseases and insect pests, 2-3-year-old seedlings with a thickness of more than 1 cm or 2-3-year-old branches on perennial trees.

two。 Choose scion: sweet-scented osmanthus has Jin Gui, Yingui, Dan Gui, Siji Gui and other varieties. First of all, sweet-scented osmanthus varieties can be selected according to their preferences and resource conditions, and then the 2-to 3-year-old branches with strong growth, full development, no disease and insect pests and moderate size can be selected as scions.

3. Grafting time: the grafting time of sweet-scented osmanthus generally depends on the germination of rootstocks, and most rootstocks begin to germinate from mid-March to early April. As sweet-scented osmanthus germinated earlier than rootstock, and once the scion germinated, the grafting should be difficult to survive, so the scion should be collected before sweet-scented osmanthus germinated in February.

4. Grafting method: using 2-year-old branches with a thickness of 0.3-0.5 cm, cut off the leaves, cut the scion into small segments of 5-10 cm, and the upper incision was 1 cm from the bud. Then soak, absorb enough water, put it in a cool place and store it in moisturizing sand, and take it out before grafting. After grafting, if the branches germinate below the interface of the rootstock, they should be erased in time. From 31 to 35 days after grafting, the scion was cut off from the interface and separated from the mother.

The technology of tassel grafting sweet-scented osmanthus has been widely spread, so its grafting experience is more, so when we plant tassel trees and use it to graft sweet-scented osmanthus, we can learn from the experience of others, which can save a lot of time and effort.
