Last Updated: 2024/11/03, Orchids do not blossom, mainly due to the following reasons: 1. Improper water and fertilizer is the fleshy root of orchids. If excessive watering, the basin soil is moist for a long time, and it is easy to cause rotten roots and yellow leaves. However, too little watering and too dry basin soil can easily make false bulbs shrivel or other tissues affect metabolism due to water loss, and it will also lead to tissue weakness.

Orchids do not bloom mainly due to the following reasons:

1. Improper water and fertilizer

Orchids are fleshy roots, if overwatered, the basin soil is moist for a long time, which is easy to cause rotten roots and yellow leaves; but too little watering and too dry basin soil can easily make false bulbs shrivel or other tissues affect metabolism due to water loss, and it will also lead to tissue weakness and poor plant growth, so it is difficult to blossom, so orchid watering should be timely and appropriate. The Yulan experience of the forefathers of horticulture in China is: "moist in spring, slightly wet in summer and autumn, and dry in winter." these experiences are very valuable and worthy of our reference. Because summer and autumn is the peak period of orchid vegetative growth, if the soil is partial at this time, it will inhibit nutrition absorption, and then affect reproductive growth and flowering. In winter, the room temperature is low, the soil is too wet, it is easy to rot the root, and affects its dormancy. Fertilization is too much or too thick, it is easy to cause root rot, make the leaf color yellow, leaf tip scorched; if the deviation of nitrogen fertilizer, make the plant grow too long, affect flower bud differentiation, these factors will affect the normal flowering of orchids.

two。 Too little light

Although orchids are sunny flowers, it does not mean that they do not need light. If it is allowed to grow in the shade for a long time, the accumulation of organic matter is limited, which can not meet the needs of reproductive growth, thus affecting flower bud differentiation, there will be no flowers or few flowers in the coming year.

3. Winter room temperature

Although Gudang orchid is native to the south, it maintains wild resistance, so it does not require high overwintering temperature, and the room temperature should not exceed 10 ℃ in winter. If the temperature is too high, Chunlan can not get dormancy, which will affect the flowering in the coming year. On the contrary, if the temperature is too low, the root system is vulnerable to damage, which will also affect flowering.

4. Disease and insect damage

Orchids suffered from anthrax, shell insects and other diseases and pests seriously, and failed to control in time, resulting in weak plant growth and difficult flowering. In addition, ramet division is too scattered, single plant leaves are less, organic matter accumulation is less. It is not easy to blossom; plant growth is too exuberant, more leaf buds, but also easy to inhibit flower bud differentiation. In order to make domestic orchids blossom, we should strengthen the usual maintenance work, especially pay attention to water and fertilizer, light, temperature and so on.

[the reason why orchids don't blossom] what if orchids don't bloom?

There are many reasons why orchids do not bloom. Orchids need to be investigated and analyzed. For a normal adult orchid, as long as it reaches more than two or three conjoined plants, if it is cultivated properly, it can blossom under normal circumstances, but the actual orchid is not very easy to raise. In the process of orchid cultivation, it is easy to rot the root and rot the stem or the orchid will not blossom if handled improperly. In general, if the stem buds of orchids rot, do not deal with them, then the roots and yellow leaves will rot, and the orchids will not blossom in the end.

There are five reasons why orchids do not bloom. 1. The orchid plant is still small and does not have flowering.

The plants of orchids are still small and do not have reproductive genes. Some young seedlings that have not yet formed pseudobulbs can bloom only after two years of vegetative growth to form pseudobulbs, and then germinate new shoots two or three times, and the branches are three generations in the same house.

2. Orchid ramet destroys fertility genes.

Ramet planting will destroy the transmission habit of reproductive genes of orchids from generation to generation, so orchids should be planted in clusters, less leaves per plant, less ash accumulation of organic matter and no active reproductive genes. Generally speaking, it is difficult to blossom without three generations of pseudo-bulbs in the same house.

3. Orchids do not blossom: the environment does not adapt.

Improper dry and wet, spring and summer and autumn is the vegetative growth period of orchids (but need to avoid plum rain and rainstorm), if the autumn is too thousand, it will make vegetative growth. Winter is its dormant period, which should be on the dry side. If it is too wet, it is easy to make the basin soil freeze and expand, squeeze the roots, affect the new shoots of the following spring and summer, and affect its normal reproductive growth.

4. Orchids do not blossom: too little light

The light is too little, and the accumulation of organic matter is limited, which can not supply the needs of reproductive growth. Although Lanhuo is a shady flower, it does not mean that it does not need time. It only avoids direct and long light. But need to diffuse, scattered light (semi-shade). Plants that tend to grow in the shade have dark green leaves, but they are more difficult and less flowering, while those growing in the south and mid-summer shade are slightly yellowish-green, but with more flowers, and are gaudy and fragrant.

5. The orchid itself does not blossom

Orchids can not bloom for their own special reasons, or a very small number of orchids do not like to blossom. This phenomenon has appeared in various orchid species, and I have also encountered: in 2004, a vegetarian Jian Lan, which came down the mountain, has been cultivated in this garden for six or seven years, and it has developed to more than a dozen pots. I have never seen flowers until now. This is probably the sterility of plants (orchids).

What if the orchid does not blossom? 1. Cultivate strong seedlings

In general, the spring orchid for ornamental flowers cannot be divided into single seedlings for propagation. It is best for three seedlings to be connected to the pot, so that strong seedlings can be cultivated.

2. Enhance the illumination

Light is the main factor affecting the growth and flowering of orchids. Plants rely on sunlight for photosynthesis to produce indispensable nutrients for their growth. The growth of Cymbidium and the formation of flowers need sufficient light. Sunlight can help orchid leaves carry out photosynthesis, create "food" and support the growth and flowering of orchid seedlings. In addition to summer and early autumn, Chunlan can not let direct sunlight in other seasons, which can not only make the orchid seedlings healthy and strong, but also strengthen the bulbs and promote the propagation of buds. Orchids with exuberant growth are easier to draw buds.

3. Master watering

Water is one of the material bases for plant growth, but there should be a limit to the amount of water. Watering should not be fixed for a fixed time, but should seize the opportunity. If it is dry, it will be watered thoroughly, and when the orchid basin is dry, it will be watered. This is the basic principle of watering. When watering, it should be noted that the temperature of the water should be similar to that in the orchid basin of the orchid place as far as possible. Summer and early autumn can be watered in the morning and evening, while in winter at noon, the aim is to reduce the temperature difference between water and orchid pots. Spring orchids should generally be watered during the growing period, and watering should be strictly controlled before flower buds are formed.

The reason why orchids do not bloom

Many flower friends work hard to raise orchids and find that their orchids do not blossom, and it is really not clear why orchids do not bloom. This paper is based on several phenomena and reasons why orchids do not blossom according to their own years of orchid cultivation experience. it's very helpful for novice flower friends.

A normal adult orchid can blossom as long as it reaches more than two or three conjoined plants, if cultivated properly (a few single orchids can also blossom, and cold orchids with thick roots and fine leaves often do). I often hear some orchids say that their orchids have not blossomed for several years, and the reasons are generally as follows:

First, seedlings (seed seedlings) and tissue culture seedlings do not necessarily blossom even if they have been cultivated for many years, just like other plants, for example, fruit trees cannot blossom and bear fruit until a certain age, and orchids cannot blossom and bear seeds until a certain age.

Second, the species differences among orchid species are different, and it is also a common phenomenon that orchids are difficult to blossom due to different climatic conditions. Take Chunlan, for example, some areas are more difficult to blossom, or less able to blossom. For example, in Hainan or the south of Guangdong, where the temperature in the four seasons is relatively higher and more balanced than in other parts of the country, even if Chunlan has flower buds in the above areas, it cannot blossom because of the lack of normal spring flower conditions (low temperature exercise) (I have heard that there is no textual research). There are other orchid species that do not blossom or cannot blossom normally due to the great latitude difference between the north and the south. For example, some wild orchid species are extremely sensitive to climate and will never blossom again in places where there is a great difference in climate. However, such orchids are rare. National orchids, Jian orchids, cymbidium, spring swords, lianban, cymbidium, and cold orchids can blossom in most provinces of the country, not to mention the artificial use of air conditioners and solar greenhouses to regulate temperature to promote orchids to grow and blossom.

Third, the physiological growth of orchids is disrupted due to various reasons, and new leaf buds burst in the period of flower bud formation. in this case, orchid plants do not have more nutrients to maintain the normal differentiation of flower buds, resulting in flower buds stop growing and can not blossom.

Fourth, improper cultivation methods may also lead to the failure of orchids to blossom, and there are mainly the following situations:

The main results are as follows: (1) there is too much nitrogen fertilizer and less phosphorus and potassium fertilizer in the plant material of orchids, which leads to excess vegetative growth and inhibition of reproductive growth. Just like the fruit trees that farmers plant in front and behind their houses, orchids are the same because the soil is too fertile and they often dump garbage and livestock droppings, resulting in only growing branches and leaves without blooming and fruiting. The solution is to replace the plant material with balanced nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium nutrition or increase the application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer.

(2) excessive watering during flower bud differentiation and wet plant materials will also lead to exuberant vegetative growth and inhibit reproductive growth. Because the plant material is too wet, the nutrients contained in the plant material will often be absorbed and transmitted by the root to participate in the metabolism of the plant along with the water. As soon as the metabolism is strong, the respiration will be exuberant, thus counteracting the products of leaf photosynthesis. The organic matter accumulation of orchid plants is affected, and flower bud differentiation is lack of due power. The solution is to properly control the water of orchids in July and August every year (the flower bud differentiation period of most orchids) to make the plants dry, and to spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate on the leaves every 10 mi 15 days, two or three times in a row, which is beneficial to the differentiation and formation of orchids.

(3) lack of light is also one of the reasons why orchids do not bloom. Although orchids are shade-loving plants, they also need a certain amount of sunlight in order to maintain normal physiological activities. If the orchid has enough light, the accumulation of organic matter will be relatively more, and the formation of flower buds will have enough power. Some orchid friends have to raise orchids indoors because of the limitations of conditions, and the flowering is naturally less. The solution is to allow orchid plants that are not exposed to the sun to enjoy the sun as much as possible (of course, no exposure), especially the warm and soft sunshine in the morning. In addition to light, the accumulation of photosynthates (organic matter) depends on the temperature difference between day and night. The temperature difference between day and night is small, and the respiration of orchids at night is exuberant, which will consume the photosynthates produced by orchids during the day. Therefore, in the flower bud formation period, the temperature difference between day and night is small, and it is often difficult for orchids to blossom.

Fifth, there is also a situation in which orchids cannot blossom for their own special reasons, or a very small number of orchids do not like to blossom.
