Although the technical content of turf laying is relatively high, the turf itself is a good greening courtyard and wind-proof and sand-fixing plant, so we can also master some knowledge about turf planting in case of emergency.

1. How to plant and manage turf

Selected varieties:

1. Poa: adaptability, wet, drought, regeneration, pruning resistance, competitiveness.

2. Arnebia grass: drought tolerance, cold resistance, fibrous roots especially developed, resistant to pruning.

3. Thinopyrum: luxuriant stems and leaves, strong regeneration, cold and drought tolerance, trampling resistance, lax requirements for soil, strong vitality.

Timely watering: turf in sowing or paving within 7 days after the general day to water twice;7~15 days a day to water again;15 days after the degree of water shortage timely watering. Watering should be sufficient, to maintain a certain humidity. Summer watering should be done in the morning and evening. For turf with a long growth time, it is best to irrigate green water once a year before germination in spring, irrigate enough frozen water before freezing in autumn, and irrigate regularly when drought occurs during lawn growth season.

Conservation: Protecting turf from trampling is an extremely important job in turf management. Even if it is a trampling resistant grass, it cannot be tolerated for a long time. It should be protected by planting hedges or railings.

Second, how to lay the turf

1. Although turfing is an expensive method of lawn creation, it can produce "transient turf" at any time of the year. Although it may take weeks or months before the newly paved lawn can withstand treading or recreational activities, the paved turf does provide the appearance of a finished lawn. For this reason, it is often used when site preparation is poor and other planting methods do not produce satisfactory results.

2. The turf bed should also be prepared, otherwise it will bring trouble to the management of the lawn later. When laying turf, the ideal bed should be damp but not wet. If it is too dry, especially at high temperatures, the roots of the lawn will be damaged, although irrigation will be done immediately after paving. The sod should be laid as thin as possible to facilitate rapid rooting. Care must be taken when handling the turf so that it does not tear or stretch excessively.

3. Artificial or mechanical turf laying is a viable method. The sod pieces should be adjusted so that adjacent sod pieces are staggered end to end to minimize cracks caused by shrinkage.

III. Height of turf mowing III. Standards

1. Some varieties of creeping turf shears can tolerate cutting heights of 0.5 cm or less. The mowing height of tall fescue should be higher than 2.5cm, so the lawn that needs low mowing to function cannot be planted with tall fescue. The mowing height suitable for most lawns is 3~ 4 cm.

2. The height of the football field turf should not hinder the elasticity of the ball and the movement of the athletes, and the general mowing height is 2~3cm. Common green turf needs to consider the beauty of the lawn and give consideration to the resistance and management costs of the lawn, so its mowing height is generally 4~ 8 cm. The main function of soil and water conservation lawn is to stabilize soil and protect the slope, prevent soil erosion, and its mowing height can reach more than 10cm. Some are only mowed 1~2 times a year or not mowed.

3. When the turf returns from dormancy, the pruning height can be appropriately reduced to remove some dead tissues, so that sunlight can directly irradiate the new plants and soil to promote their green growth as soon as possible. This situation is more suitable for the green grass that we often say on the market, that is, the dwarf Bermuda interplanting ryegrass. When returning to green, we should carry out low pruning treatment to make it grow green as soon as possible.

The above is all about turf planting and maintenance. In fact, it is difficult to trim and lay turf planting, but many people abroad are also maintaining their own turf, so it is very useful for everyone to learn a little turf planting knowledge.
