How to plant carrots? The harm of carrot rust fly and its control measures

In order to continuously supply carrots, you need to sow the seeds every two to three weeks, and finally sow the main varieties in the middle of summer.

How to sow carrots

Carrots don't like to be transplanted, so it's best to sow them directly to where they want to grow. Remove all the stones from the soil-if the carrot root hits a stone, it will fork-and rake the soil to a fine soil. Now mark the seed line. The seed seeder should be about 1/4 inches (1 cm) deep and about six inches (15 cm) between rows, depending on the type of seed you sow. Plant some seeds sparsely along the line, and then close the soil along the line to cover the seeds. Carrot seeds are very small, so to make it easier to sow, you can mix the seeds with dry sand, which will help spread the seeds in the row. When you are finished, mark the row with variety and date.

To sow the seeds into the pot, fill the container with potted soil, then gently tamp it until hard. Sow very thin seeds at the top and cover them with 1/4 inches (1 cm) of potted soil. Water, then label.

How to prevent carrots and flies from harming

Carrots, flies and maggots are very harmful and are notorious for destroying roots. To prevent the low-flying insect from covering the row or garden wool immediately after sowing. Take care to protect the edge of the lid so that there is no gap. Keep the lid throughout the life cycle of the crop.

Container-grown carrots can easily prevent carrot flies by simply raising the container from the ground.

Take care of carrots

Carrots usually do not require additional feeding, but occasional mulch with organic mulch such as compost or leaf mulch will help prevent the top from turning green.
