Yulong grass is one of the excellent varieties for lawn selection because of its strong reproductive ability and resistance to trampling and injury, and it can grow luxuriantly without special care.

I. the plant morphology of Yulongcao

Yulongcao is a perennial herb of Liliaceae, with tuberous roots, well-developed roots, root length of more than 20 cm, milky white, few stems, short plants, clusters forming hemispherical clusters, about 10 cm high. Leaves simple, tufted, leaf blade 10-20 cm long, 0.2-0.3 cm wide, narrowly linear, leaf base sharp, leaf tip obtuse, leaf margin rough, dark green, upper and lower surface smooth, lower surface more or less powdery, veins 5-7. Racemes, 10 flowers per bud, flower stems erect, lavender to white. Capsule, ca. 0.5 cm in diameter, seed dark blue. This species is a dwarf variety along the step grass, and another white spot variety craze along the step grass, also known as the silver dragon, the leaves are 45-90 cm long, most of the white spots walk along the veins, and the leaves are hairy and not smooth. It can be propagated by the ramet method, and every 3 buds can be used as a unit. Because the root has nutrients and water, it can be stored in the shade for about a week if it is not planted immediately after the split. It grows and divides rapidly, and the planting ground can quickly grow into a thick felt-like turf, which has a particularly good effect on soil and water conservation. It has strong negative tolerance and is more resistant to trampling than ordinary turf, so it is an excellent place to be planted.

Second, the planting method of Yulongcao

Watering and fertilizing: Yulong grass can be fertilized once in June, but it does not need to be fertilized in other seasons. It should be kept moist in the basin, while in the dry season in the north, it should be often sprayed with water so that the leaves can be oil-green and shiny. And the land should be planted for it to apply organic fertilizer and water is the best. Keep the soil moist and don't let it suffer from drought. But it should not be watered too much, especially when its underground stems and fleshy roots rot during flowering, and it should be stopped watering and fertilizing in winter.

Temperature and light: the leaves of Yulongcao are green in shade, but they should be planted in the shade and under the trees. The pot is best placed in the shade to avoid direct sunlight on it, the cold tolerance of Yulong grass is relatively strong, in the south can also overwintering it, but in the north winter should be transferred to the room, the temperature should be kept above 5 ℃, the lowest can not be lower than 1 ℃, although the low temperature root system will not suffer frost damage, but the leaves will turn yellow.

Third, Yulongcao and other common lawn diseases and their control.

1. Anthrax: balanced application of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, avoid fertilization in hot and dry times, reduce the number of irrigation, not in the afternoon and night irrigation, in order to reduce environmental humidity. Plant immune or highly resistant varieties of Kentucky bluegrass and spray fungicides if necessary.

3. Powdery mildew: the prevention and control of powdery mildew should be started at the beginning of spring. The effective agents are 25% carbendazim wettable powder 500x liquid, 70% methyl topiramate wettable powder 1000x 1500x liquid, 50% carbendazim wettable powder 1000 times liquid and 25% triadimefon wettable powder 2000-3000 times liquid and so on.

4. Cercospora leaf spot: the rational use of fertilizer is beneficial to the control of the disease. Improve the lawn environment and remove trees and shrubs around the grass to keep the grass ventilated and have plenty of sunlight. Disease-resistant varieties have been selected, and varieties resistant to Cercospora leaf spot have been bred, such as blunt-leaf grass. The use of fungicides can effectively control the occurrence of leaf spot.

In addition, Yulong grass and other common lawns are also likely to be infected with other diseases and insect pests. Generally speaking, as long as they pay attention to reasonable and appropriate water and fertilizer, temperature and light, their disease probability is relatively small.
