French sycamore is called French sycamore because its leaves are very similar to those of sycamore, and all tree species belong to deciduous trees. French sycamore is generally referred to as "Fatong", which shows that people want to be close to it.

I. the morphological characteristics of French sycamore.

In botany, the French sycamore (Platanus przewalskii) belongs to a large deciduous tree, up to 35 meters high. The branches spread and the crown is broad and oval in shape. Bark gray-green or gray-white, flaky. Buds under stalk, simple leaves alternate, leaves large, palmately 5-9-lobed, densely stellate pilose when young, glabrescent. Florescence April-May, head globose. Cones pendulous, usually in clusters of 2 balls. The fruit is ripe from September to October, with long hairs at the base of the nut. Deciduous trees, up to 35 m high; branches spreading, broad crown; bark gray-green, irregular flaky peeling, pink-green and smooth. Leaf blade triangular, 9 mi 15 cm long, 9 mi 17 m wide, 3 mi 5 palmately divided, margin with irregular cusps and undulate teeth, base truncate or subcordate, stellate hairs when young, later subglabrous. Inflorescence globose in diam. 2. 5Mel 3.5 cm, usually in a string of 2, with hanging bolls; flowers ca. 4 mm; sepals 4; petals 4; male flowers; male flowers 4 Mel 8 stamens; female flowers 6 separate carpels. The flowering period is May and the fruit ripening period is from September to October.

2. Pruning techniques of sycamore in France

Objective: plastic pruning has an important effect on the growth and tree shape of French sycamore. If it is not pruned in time and reasonably, it will lead to disorganized tree shape, long main branches, few leaves or low clumps, which will greatly reduce its ornamental value and shading effect. Timely and reasonable pruning can make the tree majestic, straight and graceful, dense branches, many and symmetrical lateral branches, thick green leaves and enhanced natural immunity of the tree.

Time: winter shaping and pruning can be carried out before the fall and winter of French sycamore leaves, soil freezing, tree dormancy to the following spring sap flow. Summer pruning is carried out from sprouting in spring to before falling leaves in autumn, which is called "summer pruning". Summer pruning is mainly to peel buds, remove tillers, coring, thinning dense tender branches, adjusting the angle of main branches and so on.

Methods: for young trees, a large cut-off is carried out every year in winter. Generally, the three main branches retained for the first time remain unchanged, and then two strong twigs are retained on each main branch, leaving a length of 20 to 30 meters in short cut. Trees that have been formed should also be fully pruned every winter. Pay attention to cultivate the advantage of the main branch, cut off the disease and insect branches, erect branches, overlapping branches, overdense clump branches and lateral branches.

III. Control of powdery mildew of sycamore in France

Symptoms and occurrence regularity:

Powdery mildew of sycamore in France is a fungal ☆ disease which has been infected for many times. ☆ is prohibited. It is mainly harmful to the leaves and shoots, the diseased leaves are wrinkled and twisted into a mass, and the front and back of the leaves are covered with white powder layer. The disease generally began to occur from May to June. At the initial stage of the disease, small round spots of white powder were produced on the front or back of the leaves, and then gradually expanded, resulting in wrinkling, longitudinal curling, twisting and shrinking of the new shoots, affecting the normal growth of the tree. Yellow-white spots were formed in the white powder layer, and then gradually formed yellow-brown or black-brown, resulting in leaf withering and shedding ahead of time.

Prevention and control measures:

1. Horticulture prevention and control. Due to the strong sprouting ability of French sycamore, for seriously sick trees, all the branches of the same year can be cut off in winter to remove diseased leaves and diseased shoots to reduce the source of infection. Peel off buds in time in spring to enhance ventilation and light transmittance and enhance tree potential.

2. Chemical control. After the germination of new leaves in the early spring, mancozeb was used to prevent the disease. At the initial stage of the disease, 12.5% nitrilazole EC 2500m 3000 times, 25% trimethoprim wettable powder 1000ml 1500 times, 70% methyl thiophanate wettable powder 800ml 1200 times spray, once every 10 times 15 days, 2 times continuously for 3 times. The rational use of drugs can effectively control the occurrence and spread of the disease.

It can be said that the ornamental value of French sycamore can not be replaced by other tree species, which makes it the most famous of all Platanus trees. If you have a friend in the courtyard, you might as well try to plant it.
