The north is mostly cultivated into shrubs or small trees. as an important tree species for urban and rural greening, it is suitable for planting by the courtyard, on both sides of the garden road and by the riverside of the pool. whether alone or with its plant configuration, crape myrtle with Qiu qu colorful trees, colorful flowers, pleasing to the eye.

Planting of crape myrtle

Crape myrtle has strong root sprouting and tillering, so it is propagated in October and is planted in nursery or pot. It can blossom in 2-3 years. Mature ears can also be cut from October to November, sown in March of the following year, and seedlings can emerge in about 2-3 weeks.

Crape myrtle soil requires loam soil rich in organic matter and good drainage, which can be fully mixed with 5 parts of rotten leaf soil or sandy soil, 2 parts of burning soil and 1 part of coal briquette ash.

The basin soil should be kept moist in spring and winter, and should be watered every morning and evening in summer and autumn. Under drought and high temperature, the watering times can be appropriately increased every day, with river water, well water, Rain Water and tap water stored for 2 to 3 days.

Potted crape myrtle changed its basin soil every 2 to 3 years, and 5 portions of loose mountain soil, 3 parts of pastoral soil and 2 parts of fine river sand were mixed into culture soil. Organic fertilizer such as bone powder and bean cake powder could be used as base fertilizer when changing pots, but the fertilizer could not be in direct contact with the root system so as not to damage the root system and affect the plant growth.

Breeding technology

Crape myrtle reproduction mainly includes sowing, cutting, ramet and other methods, but the actual production is mainly sowing and reproduction.

1. Sowing, reproduction and seed collection: cause and effect has been cracked before maturity, and the seeds are easy to be lost, so they should be harvested in time. The collected seeds are spread out for drying, threshing and impurity removal, and pure seeds can be obtained, which can be sowed in time or dried and hidden until the following spring. The germination rate is 80% to 85%.

Sowing: the sowing land should choose sandy loam with high dryness, fertile and good drainage. Before spring sowing, the dry seeds were soaked in 40 ℃ warm water, and then soaked in clean water. After the seeds had absorbed enough water, they could be sowed. The seeds are small and can be mixed with an appropriate amount of fine sand before sowing. Strip sowing is used and the row spacing is 30 cm. After sowing, the soil cover should be thin, gently pressed and covered with grass. The suitable temperature for germination is from 18 ℃ to 22 ℃. It sprouted about 20 days after sowing.

Seedling management: after emergence, gradually remove the mulch and build a shade to shade. When the height of the seedling is 3 cm, the distance between seedlings is 10 to 15 cm. It entered the fast-growing period from June to August, because crape myrtle is the early growth type, so it is necessary to step up topdressing for 2 to 3 times in the early stage of the fast-growing period. The height of seedlings in that year is 50 to 80 centimeters.

two。 Due to the natural pollination of crape myrtle, the flowers and colors of the offspring are more miscellaneous, in order to obtain pure flowers and colors, asexual reproduction can be used.

Hardwood cuttings: in spring. Choose one-year-old sturdy and full branches, cut them into 15 cm long as cuttings, insert them into 2cm 3 in the soil, and keep them moisturized frequently after planting. It can take root about 20 days after insertion, and the survival rate is up to 90%. By strengthening the management of fertilizer and water, the height of seedlings can reach about 1 meter in the same year.

Twig propagation: can be carried out in the rainy season, to pay attention to moisturizing, sunshade.

3. The sprouting ability of Lagerstroemia crape myrtle is strong, and many sprouting seedlings can be sprouted near the rhizosphere of the mother plant. Before the sprouting of buds in spring, the sprouting seedlings in the rhizosphere of the mother plant were divided and planted with roots, that is, they became an independent individual.

Shaping and pruning

The plastic pruning of crape myrtle is mainly in the dormant season, supplemented by the growing season.

Natural happy shape.

Before crape myrtle comes out of the nursery, 3-4 big branches can be selected as the main branches, and 1-2 branches with good angle and balanced growth will be selected as lateral branches. When pruning every year, the upper branches with larger angles should be selected to lengthen the branches, and cut moderately short to each other, in order to expand the crown. This kind of tree has the advantages of easy shaping, good permeability and three-dimensional flowering. This kind of tree shape is suitable for planting in places with more space.
