Kale is a cruciferous plant, is a specialty vegetable in China, the main edible parts are fresh and tender bolts and leaves, is a kind of nutrient-rich vegetables. Kale is mainly planted in the southern part of China, such as Guangdong, Fujian and other cities with relatively mild climate throughout the year. Do you know anything about the points for attention in the cultivation of kale? If not, let's take a look at the wonderful content below.

1. Soil

Kale does not require much soil, but it is best not to carry out continuous cropping, and the previous crop is cruciferous, which is not suitable for growing kale. If you want high yield of kale, it is best to choose sandy loam or loam with rich organic matter, strong water and fertilizer retention and moderate acidity and alkalinity. Do not plant in heavy clay and sandy soil, the permeability is too poor.

2. Fertilization

The growth of kale has a great demand for nutrients, but we should fertilize it reasonably. In the growing period of kale, there is not much nutrients needed, so there is no need for topdressing when the base fertilizer is fully applied. When the seedlings are well developed and the bolts grow slowly, we need topdressing, mainly with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium ternary compound fertilizer, in which the proportion of potassium fertilizer is the largest, because kale has the strongest ability to absorb potassium. Of course, if there are conditions, it is best to combine organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer, so as to deliberately improve the quality of kale.

3. Temperature

According to the growth habits of kale and the analysis of the major planting areas, we know that kale has some requirements on temperature. Kale seeds generally sprout in an environment with a temperature of 25 to 30 degrees, while the best temperature for kale to grow flowers is between 15 and 25 degrees, with a large temperature difference between day and night, which is more conducive to the growth of kale. If the temperature exceeds 30 degrees, it is very disadvantageous to the development of kale, and may even cause the plant to wither, so we had better carry out physical cooling in summer.

4. Moisture

Kale has a great demand for water during the whole growing period, because it likes wetting and is not tolerant to drought. Well, during the growth of kale, we should water frequently and keep the soil moist. The humidity in the field had better be controlled at about 85%. Of course, the amount of water each time should not be too large. Although it has strong waterlogging resistance, if there is too much water, it will also cause the root of the plant to rot.

5. Lighting

Kale is a very shade-tolerant vegetable, so it needs plenty of light during its growth. Although it has no requirements for the duration of light, it should maintain uniform light every day, and there can be no shortage of light, otherwise the development of kale will be relatively slow, and it is easy to show dysplasia.

In fact, the cultivation of kale is similar to that of other vegetables, except that there are slight differences in some planting conditions, so this is what we need to pay attention to when planting.
