Phnom Penh hanging orchid, is a kind of hanging orchid, because its turquoise leaf edge has a circle of yellowish name. Perhaps it is for this reason that Phnom Penh hanging orchids are more popular in home decoration. So, is Phnom Penh hanging orchid easy to raise? The planting method of Phnom Penh orchid is briefly introduced in this paper.

Phnom Penh, like other Cymbidium, is a perennial evergreen herb with fast growth and easy cultivation. It can be cultivated and appreciated all the year round in a brighter room. It is one of the most suitable kinds to be suspended or placed on the top of the cupboard or flower rack.

1. Basin soil requirements

Humus, peat soil, garden soil and river sand are commonly mixed in pot cultivation and a small amount of base fertilizer is added as substrate. Note that the matrix is replaced every 2 to 3 years. When changing the substrate, it is best to replace it with loose, humus-rich and well-drained culture soil, and then apply livestock hoof horns or rotten cake fertilizer as base fertilizer. It should be noted that the soil and basin are changed once every year from March to April. If the basin is deeper and the base fertilizer is sufficient, the basin can be changed once every two years. When turning the basin, knock the plant out of the basin and cut off the withered roots and excess roots.

2. Temperature control

Cymbidium likes warm and moist climate, is not cold-resistant, and grows better at 20-24 ℃. Pay attention to ventilation and cooling in summer, and the temperature in winter should not be lower than 5 ℃, preferably about 10 ℃. While adjusting the temperature, we should pay attention to control the temperature to prevent the plant from growing too long. The temperature difference between day and night should not be too large to avoid yellowing the leaves of the orchid.

3. Light regulation

Semi-overcast environment is suitable, shading treatment is needed in spring and summer, and scattered light is the best. Should be placed in a cool and ventilated place, with the windowsill, the table near the window is better. Pay attention to the summer should not be placed in the sun exposure, during the day need to cover 50% to 70% of the sun, otherwise it will make the leaf tip dry, especially the flower and leaf varieties, more afraid of strong sunlight. But at the same time, it is necessary to ensure the irradiation of scattered light. Pay attention to receiving plenty of sunshine in winter. The sun is so strong in summer that you can only see some oblique light sooner or later.

4. Regulation of water and fertilizer.

Hanging orchids like to be moist, to maintain a high air humidity. Watering should be enough, one time in the morning and one time in the evening. Liquid nitrogen fertilizer was applied once in 15 days of the growing season. From late spring to early autumn, organic fertilizer can be applied every 7 to 10 days, but for Phnom Penh, Jinxin and other varieties, we should pay attention to apply less nitrogen fertilizer, so as to avoid the color of flowers and leaves fade or even disappear.

5. Disease and pest control

There are fewer diseases and insect pests in Cymbidium, mainly because the leaf tip is yellow. at this time, we should pay attention to the regulation of water and fertilizer and cut off the diseased leaves. If the basin soil is stagnant and poorly ventilated, it will not only lead to rotten roots, but also may cause root rot, so attention should be paid to spraying prevention and control. There is also a point to pay attention to, poor growth, short leaves, leaf tip dry, mainly due to strong light, air drying caused, so we should pay attention to often spray water to the leaf surface.

The cultivation methods of Phnom Penh orchids, like other methods, need to control light, water and fertilizer, and so on. But there is one thing to note: Phnom Penh orchids should apply less nitrogen fertilizer.
