What is the night fragrant flower? It is said that this kind of flower has a special habit that it does not give off a strong fragrance until the evening, so it is called night incense. Now, as an ornamental plant, nocturnal incense has entered many families. So, why don't you put the night incense indoors?

Night incense, also known as night fragrance, night incense, night clove, evening fragrant jade, night orchid incense, etc., is a kind of flowering plants native to tropical America.

According to relevant studies, nocturnal flowers give off their fragrance because they smell at night, so their petals are different from those that bloom during the day. However, the key to the aroma of nocturnal incense at night lies in the humidity of the air: once the humidity of the air is high, the stomata on its petals will expand, and more aromatic oils will evaporate. Although there is no sun at night, the air is much wetter than during the day, so the stomata are enlarged and the aroma is very strong. Therefore, in rainy days, even during the day, nocturnal incense will give off fragrance, because the air humidity is also high on rainy days.

Some friends think that since nocturnal incense can send out aroma at night and put it indoors, it can purify the home air. However, this idea is wrong. Night flowers can give off fragrance at night, of course, thanks to the structure of their petals, but this is also the result of the survival of the fittest in nature:

Nocturnal incense originally grew in the subtropics, where the temperature was high during the day and flying insects rarely came out. In the evening and night, when the temperature dropped and many flying insects came out to look for food, evening incense emitted a strong fragrance and attracted flying insects to come to spread pollen. Under the influence of environmental factors for generations, nocturnal incense has formed the habit of always sending out fragrance at night. But its aroma will make patients with high blood pressure and heart disease feel dizzy, depressed and uncomfortable, causing chest tightness and dyspnea and other symptoms. Putting it indoors for a long time will cause dizziness, cough, and even asthma and insomnia.

Moreover, green plants generally carry out photosynthesis during the day and only respiration rather than photosynthesis at night. At night, it will consume indoor oxygen and compete with people. What's more, fragrant flowers at night are oxygen-consuming flowers and plants, which will consume a lot of oxygen even when photosynthesis is carried out during the day, affecting human health. When photosynthesis is stopped at night, a large amount of exhaust gas will be discharged, which can not purify the air indoors. On the contrary, it will cause lack of oxygen in the room and bring discomfort to people.

It seems that the fragrance released by fragrant flowers at night is actually just a strong smell, and its stimulating effect on the human body is quite obvious. Evening primrose can be used as an ornamental plant, but do not put it indoors, so as not to affect your health.
