The "Baosheng Aquarium Ecological Recreation area" on the coast of Sanxiantai, Taitung, has not carried out any coral reef monitoring, so construction will begin! The "Baosheng Aquarium Ecological Recreation area" will start a physical construction project on March 1, which is close to the coastline and a serious threat to the coral reef ecology.

The Keystone coast is the second largest coral reef area along the Taitung coast, and it is a very rare first-class conservation type of "Formosa pseudosilk coral." however, when Baosheng passed the environmental assessment in 1998, no coral reef monitoring was carried out in accordance with the Environmental Protection Agency's "Technical Code for Marine Ecological Assessment", and local residents thought it was harmful to the environment and did not respect the tribes.

Today (26) Chen Chao-lun, a researcher at the Earth Citizen Foundation, the Taiwan Environmental Information Association and the Biodiversity Research Center of Academia Sinica, issued a joint statement, solemnly requiring the relevant units, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the Construction Department of the Ministry of the Interior, the IOC Marine Protection Agency, the former people's Association, and the Tourism Bureau, to put forward relevant measures to rescue the coastal crisis.

What is the solution to the current problem? The mission called for an environmental impact survey report.

Is there a tradeoff between the preservation of coral reef ecology and the development of the Baosheng case? Chen Zhaolun said that the first step is to investigate and understand the entire marine ecology, that is, to submit an "environmental impact investigation report" and to clarify with the local Ami aborigines whether the land for the development project has really been approved by the tribal council. In addition, it is suggested that Baosheng should not build any projects within five hectares of the sea, or even assess that the entire amusement area should be moved further inland to ensure that the project will not affect the ecology of coral reefs.

As the construction of the Baosheng development case is about to begin, the Taiwan Environmental Information Association, the Earth Citizen Foundation and researcher Chen Zhaolun reiterated their demand that the EPA should order Baisheng developers to submit an "environmental impact investigation report" to conduct a supplementary coral reef investigation; the part of the coastal rights and responsibility unit requires the Construction Department to immediately announce that the "coastal specific area" in Huadong area has been improperly developed, and the Marine Conservation Agency should establish a complete coral reef protection system. On the other hand, the indigenous people's association should clarify whether the Baosheng development project should obtain the consent of the tribes and face squarely the aborigines' right to use their traditional areas.
