Taiwan's first closed environment self-driving test field, ─ "Taiwan Intelligent driving Test Laboratory", was officially opened yesterday (25) in Shashi, Tainan, and was publicly demonstrated by the vehicle Center, Acer, Chengda, ITRI and Che Wang Dian, 7StarLake, Taiwan Smart driving and Fengrong passenger Transport. President Tsai ing-wen, political Councillor Wu Zhengzhong, Tainan Mayor Huang Weizhe, as well as legislators Wang Dingyu, Xu Zhijie and representatives of relevant ministries all attended the opening ceremony.

The Office of the Science and Technology Society of the Executive Yuan said that the Sha'i self-driving test field is the first one in Taiwan designed for self-driving technical testing. it takes only nine months to complete from design, site preparation to construction. In addition to multiple, complex traffic situations that meet international standards, and based on 13 common road situations of side-by-side parking and roadside locomotives in Taiwan, it is the test environment with the most Southeast Asian traffic characteristics.

The Science and Technology Office further indicated that it is expected that starting from June this year, self-driving manufacturers will join hands with operators, legal persons, and local governments to form teams to apply for trial operation in open or semi-open fields in accordance with the unmanned vehicle Science and Technology Innovation experiment Ordinance, and to complete self-driving bus road planning to promote self-driving bus services on specific routes next year, so that the public can feel the safety and convenience of intelligent transport services. In the near future, the self-driving sand test field will cooperate with self-driving manufacturers to plan Open House activities, hold field and self-driving experience activities, and provide the public with registration experience.

The Science and Technology Office stressed that in the future, the development of unmanned vehicles in China will start with self-driving buses of mass transport, which are highly related to people's livelihood, and will gradually extend to drones and self-driving ships, and in combination with local creation, cooperate with local governments to develop unmanned vehicle service operation models with local characteristics.
