At present, farmers' enthusiasm for planting sweet potato is generally high, but in the process of planting sweet potato, like other crops, they will encounter a variety of diseases and insect pests, affecting the yield and quality of sweet potato. What we bring today is the knowledge of pest control of sweet potato.

1. Disease control

The common diseases in the process of sweet potato planting are virus disease, leaf spot disease, scab disease, sweet potato blast, sweet potato vine cutting disease, sweet potato soft rot and so on.

2. Disease control methods.

The first is to use virus-free seedlings to disinfect the seedlings, and the second is to carry out chemical control according to different diseases.

For the control and prevention of physiological diseases: due to soil deficiency, physiological deficiency, poor environment and other factors (too dry, too wet, sunburn, high temperature, low temperature), lead to a variety of physiological diseases, such as deficiency, sunburn, aging, weakness, wilting and so on.

Control methods: select resistant varieties or insensitive varieties; select strong varieties with strong growth; properly watering to keep the surface and plants dry; maintain appropriate density; planting plots to maintain rotation can reduce the occurrence.

For non-infectious diseases, sulfur and copper preparations were used to control them. For bacterial diseases, such as soft rot, properly watering and watering at the same time to keep the surface and plants dry. Fungal diseases, such as downy mildew, rust and other soil-borne diseases, can be prevented by film mulching and drip irrigation to keep the environment dry.

Viral diseases are prevented and controlled by controlling aphids.

3. Pest control

The common pests in the process of sweet potato cultivation are stem borer, diamondback moth, leaf borer, leaf beetle, golden needle beetle, beetle, mole cricket, ground tiger, Spodoptera litura, aphid and whitefly.

4. Methods of pest control

①, crop rotation. The paddy field implements paddy-drought rotation, planting rice in early crop, sweet potato in autumn or sweet potato in winter, or aquatic vegetables in spring and summer and sweet potato in autumn and winter.

②, adopt the method of virus-free seedling by tissue culture.

③, light to kill insects. Install a frequency vibrating trap lamp every 20000 square meters.

Integrated control measures of underground pests such as ④, small elephant beetle, ground tiger, mole cricket, golden needle worm, leaf beetle, etc. 500 times probiotic solution was sprayed every 15 days after planting, Beauveria bassiana or tobacco leaf (tobacco stem) water was sprayed 2-3 months after planting, the spraying time should be staggered for 15 days, and 15 weevil traps were placed every 667 square meters.

⑤, stem borer control. Azadirachtin or rotenone was sprayed once 20 days after planting to control sweet potato stem borer, once every 10 days, 2 times continuously.
