1. Climate: the growth temperature is 10 ℃ to 35 ℃, and the optimum temperature for growing length is 18 ℃ to 25 ℃. The seedlings were more tolerant to low temperature than other melons, and could tolerate short-term low temperature from 3 ℃ to-5 ℃, but underdeveloped when it was lower than 10 ℃ or higher than 35 ℃ for a long time. Plants like sunshine in spring, and diseases are easy to occur in long-term overcast and rain.

2. Sowing: it is suitable to sow in March in the south, April in the north and early May in the cold region of northeast China. The row spacing is 70 cm, the plant spacing is 50 cm, and only 1 plant is left in each pot. The south can be direct seeded in the open air, while in the north, it is better to raise seedlings and transplant in the protected field one month in advance.

3. Seedling raising and transplanting: apply compost into the seedling bed, dig fine and level it, and pour water through it. When sowing, the row spacing is 8 cm. After sowing, cover the seeds with 1 cm thick fine sand, and make a plastic arch shed on the seedling border to keep the seedlings warm.

Keep the border at 25 ℃ to 30 ℃ in daytime and no less than 15 ℃ at night, and seedlings can emerge in 5 days. After the seedlings come out, open the shed and release the wind to refine the seedlings from 9 am to 10:00 on a sunny day. Less watering in the seedling stage, so as not to reduce the temperature of the seedbed. After the seedlings have three true leaves and there is no frost for a week, choose sunny days to plant seedlings. Each seedling is watered with a large bowl of water, and the water seeps into the nest with fine soil. Try not to flood irrigation after planting, so as not to reduce the ground temperature and affect the growth of seedlings.

4. Management: temperature has a great influence on the growth of seedlings. When low temperature is encountered in the north, plastic arch shed should be used to cover the heat preservation in time. There are few or no male flowers on melon seedlings when the temperature is below 10 ℃ for a long time, and there are few or no female flowers on melon seedlings when the temperature is higher than 35 ℃ or too dry for a long time. There are few insects in early spring, so the first few female flowers should be artificially pollinated with a clean brush on a sunny morning. When cultivated in a large area of plastic arch shed, it is best to put bees in the shed to assist pollination.

5. Fertilization: it is better for farm manure to compost cooked human, livestock and poultry manure, when potted indoors, or to eat surplus steamed bread or waste meat dregs. Dig a nest 10 to 15 centimeters away from the root, pay attention to a small number of times. The amount of fertilizer should be increased appropriately during the melon-bearing period.

6. pest control: there are long and hard fine hairs on the stems and leaves of North melon, so it is not easy for pests to approach. Occasionally, aphids or cabbage insects are harmful to leaves, and insect leaves are sprayed 1000 times with pesticides such as dichlorvos or methotrexate. When potted or cultivated in a small amount, tobacco leaves can be sprayed with tobacco water from cigarette butts.
