III. Six major problems of domestic succulent plant industry

1. Rich and well-established producers do not understand succulent plants

Most of the producers with a certain scale are traditional flower enterprises such as Phalaenopsis and Anthurium. The working time is no more than three years, and the understanding of succulent plants is shallow. Some farmers who have been employed for more than three years and have experienced the low point of China's meat market have large scale and sufficient experience, but they pay little attention to product quality.

2. Young people who know how to eat meat have no money to compete with big families. A small number of enthusiasts turned into producers, but because of various reasons such as capital, few practitioners reached a certain scale. Although they were familiar with succulent plant varieties, they lacked market operation experience.

3. The quality and quantity of imported products have been seriously affected, and the contradiction between supply and demand in the market is prominent. Since September 2014, Zhengzhou, Henan Province alone, has continuously intercepted more than 3000 succulent plants from South Korea and Italy. So far, only one or two companies have approval to import meat from South Korea.

4. At present, many domestic meat-rich producers have no planting experience before entering the industry, and most of the planting varieties are market-oriented. What varieties are easy to sell in the market will be planted, and most of them will be self-expanded after domestication of introduced varieties. Therefore, the varieties are identical and the quality is not uniform.

5. The growth cycle of succulent plants is long, most varieties will dormancy in summer or winter, spring and autumn are both production season and sales season, some people blindly enter the industry, do not arrange production well, miss sales season, and are not skilled in technology, they will lose their money.

6. At present, the research field of succulent plants in China is still in the initial stage. In recent years, some botanical gardens and succulent operators in Beijing, Shanghai, Shandong, Xiamen, Tianjin and other places have begun to carry out research on cross breeding and tissue culture. We hope that in the near future, we can have our own meat products into the market.
