More than 20 days ago, I introduced some information and inferences about the fast rooting powder in the article "A packet of fast rooting powder, the king of decrypting gardening gifts". In this article, I will continue to verify its real effect through several small experiments.

In the previous article, some readers suggested that the main ingredient of fast rooting powder should be glucose powder. I tried it, but I didn't taste it sweet. It didn't seem to contain sugar. I only tasted it a little bit, but I still felt slightly irritated (burning).

In the previous article, one of the inferences is that its main active ingredient should be naphthylacetic acid, which is soluble in alcohol but insoluble in water. Some readers suggested that alcohol be used for testing. So I mixed 95% alcohol with a small amount of rooting powder and stirred fully, but found that it was also insoluble in alcohol!

After pouring out the alcohol, I found that there was a large amount of sediment at the bottom of the beaker, which was insoluble in water and insoluble in alcohol, gray and tasteless. I suspect it was lime. Since there is no condition to verify whether it is really lime, this can only be inferred.

In the previous article, some readers suggested that I mix the rooting powder into the water to water the flowers, so I opened another bag of rooting powder, mixed it with 4 liters of water, added 2 grams of "Huaduoduo 2" to the water and shook it well, and then found two petunia. I watered it with the above mixture every 5 days for a total of 4 times in 20 days, and finally found that there was no adverse reaction. Even if this rooting powder doesn't work, it won't hurt the flowers.

In addition, I cut two groups of plant branches for comparative experiments, one group soaked in the rooting powder mixture for 30 minutes before cutting, the other group directly cut, 20 days later, let's take a look at the results.

a. Touch incense, the green breeding cup soaked in the mixture of rooting powder, the white breeding cup did not, it can be seen that the two cuttings have taken root, while the white breeding cup has more fibrous roots.

b. Left-handed incense, green breeding cup soaked in the mixture of rooting powder, no white breeding cup, left-handed incense without soaking rooting powder rotted midway, and soaked the cuttings of rooting powder, normal rooting.

c. Rosemary, green breeding cup soaked in rooting powder mixture, white breeding cup without, there is little difference between the two.

From the above, if the left-handed incense with unknown cause of death is excluded, the effect of rooting powder is not obvious. In addition, I bought five fruit seedlings online more than 20 days ago, namely mulberry, blueberry and raspberry. On the second day after planting, I filled the roots with a mixture of rooting powder. Before the article was published, only blueberries appeared new buds, and the other four saplings did not sprout obviously, but I was not surprised that blueberries first germinated, because this is the only one shipped with mud and fibrous roots (lower left corner below).

Conclusion: the main components of fast rooting powder are unknown, it is insoluble in water, insoluble in alcohol, tasteless, no obvious rooting effect, and will not hurt plants, anyway, it is a gift, like to continue to use, I am the same.
