There are two ways of raising flowers in the family: field planting and potted planting. Potted flowers due to the limited capacity of flowerpots. In order to meet the requirements of flower growth and development as far as possible, the culture soil must be prepared manually. Today, let's learn the simple method of making potted soil.

Materials for preparing basin soil

Garden soil (vegetable soil, pastoral soil): this is a common cultivated soil, which is one of the main raw materials for preparation and cultivation because of frequent fertilization and cultivation, high fertility and good aggregate structure. Surface sandy loam with vegetables or legumes is the best.

Humus soil (humus soil):

Using the leaves and weeds of various plants mixed into the garden soil, adding water and human feces and urine, the culture soil, which is formed by accumulation and fermentation, is acidic. Must be used after exposure and screening.

Mountain mud:

This is a kind of humus, the soil is loose and acidic. Compared with Montenegro mud, Huangshan mud is more viscous and contains less humus. It is often used as the main raw material for cultivating acid-loving flowers such as camellia, orchids, rhododendrons and so on.

River sand (plain sand):

The drainage permeability is good, and mixing it into heavy clay soil can improve the soil physical structure and increase the soil drainage ventilation. It can be used as a material for preparing culture soil, and it can also be used as cutting or sowing substrate alone. When sea sand is used as culture soil, it must be washed with fresh water, otherwise the salt content is too high and the growth of flowers will be affected.

Plant ash:

Ash from the burning of straw or other weeds, rich in potash. Add it to the cultured soil to make it drained well, the soil loose, and increase the content of potassium fertilizer, which is slightly alkaline.

Bone meal:

It is a fat powder made by grinding and fermenting animal bones, which contains a lot of phosphate fertilizer.

Sawdust (sawdust)

It has all the soil conditions required by potted flowers: loose and aerated, good water retention and permeability, strong thermal insulation, can reduce the temperature difference between day and night, light weight and clean sanitation. It is neutral and slightly acidic. The plant can not be fixed when used alone, and it is often mixed with other materials.

The nutritious soil made by yourself, mixed with other soils and media (such as sand, perlite, etc.), can grow flowers! Let's go and try it!
