Garden sage is easy to grow and is a delicious culinary herb that can season meat and legumes (including Thanksgiving stuffing). Learn how to plant and harvest sage.

Sage is a hardy perennial with beautiful gray-green leaves, just like in a vegetable garden, as well as in perennial boundaries. It will grow different colors of spring flowers, including purple, blue, white and pink. Not all saint breeds are cooking; the most popular kitchen sage is called Salvia officinalis.

Planting:

1. Need plenty of sunshine! The soil must be well drained.

2. The simplest and best way to grow sage is to separate sage from a small plant by two feet.

3. Seeds can be sown two weeks before the date of the last frost. (see local frost date. Plant seeds / cuttings in well-drained soil 1 to 2 weeks before the last spring frost.

4. For optimal growth, the soil should be between 60 °F and 70 °F

The height of the plant should be between 12 and 30 inches.

Recommended species: tricolor sage, which has some color in the garden (yellow, fuchsia and sage green).
