Hualong successfully put 24000 golden trout and rainbow trout in cold water culture in cage.

With the completion of Lijiaxia, Kangyang, Gongboxia and other hydropower stations in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, the water area in Hualong Hui Autonomous County has expanded, bringing rare opportunities for the development of aquaculture. In November last year, Hualong put in 24000 golden trout and rainbow trout cage cold water culture was successful.

On June 6 this year, the reporter interviewed Ma Zhonglong, director of the horticultural technology extension station of the Hualong County Bureau of Agriculture, on the situation of cage cold water culture. He told the reporter that golden trout and rainbow trout were cultured mainly in ponds in Lijiaxia and Huzhu Tu Autonomous County, but the survival rate was far lower than that of cage cold water culture, and the survival rate of cage cold water culture reached 98%. It is understood that cage cold water culture is the first in Haidong area.

According to Ma Zhonglong, the water area in Hualong County has reached 110000 mu. In order to make full use of existing water resources and develop green brand industries with strong local characteristics, in 2008, horticultural technology extension stations sought 80, 000 yuan for science and technology promotion projects, and farmers raised 330000 yuan from themselves. 12 cages were set up in Xitan Village, Suzu Reservoir area, Gandu Town, and 24000 golden trout and rainbow trout were put into demonstration culture in November last year. After half a year of pollution-free breeding, the average weight of fish reached more than 300 grams, and each fish increased by 40 grams per month. A fish can grow to about 0.5 kilograms and is sold at a market price of 30 yuan per kilogram, with a considerable income.

Cold water aquaculture has become a model of green product culture of cold water fish in Hualong County, and another channel to increase farmers' income along the Yellow River.
