Yuan Guojun, a villager from Guanmiao Village, Yuan Laoxiang, Shangshui County, Henan Province, has planted 3 mu of early spring corn this year. A raw corn cob can be sold for 1 yuan; each cooked corn can be sold for 1.5 yuan, which he thinks is much more cost-effective than selling seasonally ripe corn.

Yuan Guojun is an old expert in farming, which is called "old style". A few years ago, Yuan Guojun found that the fresh and tender corn cooked in early spring was particularly popular, especially the tender corn sold in the city was in short supply. Yuan Guojun began soil preparation, fertilization, watering, deep ploughing and sowing with plastic film after the Spring Festival. When the seedlings grew to the height of their feet and necks, he built a plastic arch to keep the corn seedlings warm. At the end of March, he intercropped potatoes with plastic film in the corn field. In late June, early spring corn grows tender grains one after another, and it can be picked and harvested. Yuan Guojun said: "it is very fastidious to grow tender corn. First of all, we have to choose plots with fertile land and good water conservancy conditions; the second is to increase the planting density-usually planting corn is about 3500 plants per mu, while about 5000 plants are needed to grow tender corn. Because it is sold according to the number of ears, it can increase income by more than 2000 yuan per mu. The rest of the corn straw can be sold, and the income of one mu of land can be increased by more than 300 yuan. "

Driven by Yuan Guojun, Guanmiao Village planted more than 200 mu of early spring corn, more than 10 growers, each household income increased by tens of thousands of yuan.
