My name is Wang Ziyang. I am 64 years old. I am an ordinary farmer with a family of five and a total of 10 mu of irrigated land. I used to make a living by growing corn and wheat, excluding seeds, chemical fertilizers and pesticides per mu, and my net income was only 200 to 300 yuan. Sometimes change the planting method, take the form of wheat and corn, cotton and watermelon, wheat and cotton, but because the planting scale is small, the market price is unstable, and can not earn much money. Since 2005, the district government has tried every means to make our farmers rich, introducing asparagus production and processing projects, taking the form of companies, bases and farmers, and engaging in order agriculture, which has brought about great changes in my family's income. the income per mu of land has suddenly risen from a few hundred yuan to several thousand yuan, and led by me, many farmers around have planted asparagus and embarked on the road to becoming rich.

At the beginning, I could not believe that asparagus could make a lot of money, but with the patient guidance of the district government and some departments of the town government, as well as the technicians of the asparagus company, running classes and training, and organizing farmers to visit and study in other places, I gradually realized many benefits of asparagus cultivation. In May 2005, I planted 4.5mu of asparagus in my contracted field. According to the technical requirements of the company, I planted 3000 plants per mu, adopted the form of large ridges and double rows, applied more than 10,000 kg of farm manure per mu, and interplanted fast soybeans in the asparagus field. after a year of careful management, more than 300 jin of soybeans were beaten per mu and the income was more than 480 yuan. Before winter, the asparagus mother stem was plucked in time in the spring of 2006. In late April, fresh and tender asparagus broke through the ground. By the end of June, asparagus of 4.5mu had been harvested more than 5000 jin and sold more than 12000 yuan, equivalent to more than 2600 yuan per mu, which was three or four times the usual income from growing corn.

Because I worked the farmland more carefully, the asparagus planting income was relatively high, which became a typical asparagus grower in the whole region. Farmers from all townships (towns) in the region came to my asparagus plot to visit and study. I also unreservedly taught the details of planting technology to farmers. Even farmers in Inner Mongolia, Fuxin, Beipiao, Shuangta District Sunjiawan and Talagao also came to visit and study for a while. My asparagus field has become a demonstration field in the whole region, and I have also become a volunteer commentator. Every time people come to study, I explain to them carefully and patiently. Since last year, I have received more than 60 groups of visitors, including more than 30 people each time. At most, there are more than 70 people at a time, and leaders have come to inspect them many times. At the beginning of the year, Chaoyang TV Station came to record the high-yield cultivation techniques of asparagus, and I, as an explanation teacher, also appeared on TV. Last winter and this spring, I was invited by Tianwin vegetable Company to volunteer to train asparagus planting techniques for farmers in the whole region. I showed up to explain asparagus planting techniques for farmers with my personal experience. No matter in class or in the fields, I seriously taught practical experience. Because they are all farmers and easy to communicate, farmers prefer to listen to my lectures and trust me, as long as farmers ask about the ways and methods of planting asparagus. I will unreservedly introduce my accumulated experience to them. Led by me, many farmers have planted asparagus this year and achieved good results.

I am an ordinary farmer. I think asparagus is a relatively good industry, but to know it, believe it, and grow it well cannot do without the strong support of governments at all levels and the prenatal, mid-production and post-natal services of processing enterprises. what's more, we asparagus growers can't impart experience to each other. At the same time, I would like to organize us asparagus growers and set up an asparagus industry and technology association to jointly study and help each other, so that asparagus cultivation can form an industrial culture into thousands of households and lead farmers to become rich together. At present, the asparagus planting area in the region has reached more than 5000 mu.
