As one of the 10 pilot cities in the country for the protection and restoration of water ecosystem, Wuhan is the first to "welcome the exam". Yesterday, after two days of on-site inspection, Wuhan successfully passed the national acceptance.

In October 2005, the Ministry of Water Resources approved to carry out the pilot project of water ecosystem protection and restoration in Wuhan.

According to the Wuhan Water Bureau, during the pilot period, Wuhan issued relevant implementation plans, with a total investment of 8.9 billion yuan to implement water ecological environment control projects, including "clear water into the lake" project, water system network construction project, sewage treatment facilities construction, comprehensive regulation of river and beach channels, soil and water conservation, wetland protection, and other six major projects.

At present, the lake in the central city of the city has basically achieved sewage interception, and more than 500000 tons of sewage does not enter the lake every day. The "six lakes connected" water network in Hanyang is basically formed, and the ecological water network planning outline of "Dadong Lake" is emerging. At present, Wuhan has cut off 224 lake sewage outlets, 29 lakes have achieved pollution interception, and strive to achieve comprehensive pollution interception of 40 lakes in the central urban area by the end of this year. In the past four years, Jiangcheng has built and operated 10 sewage treatment plants, and the centralized sewage treatment rate has increased to 80.73%. At present, Wuhan has built 33 kilometers of hydrophilic beaches with an area of more than 3 million square meters, and the Jiangtan and Xiajiasi reservoirs have also won the national water conservancy scenic spot.

Wuhan withdraws from pearl culture

After successfully passing the acceptance of the national water ecological protection and restoration yesterday, the water department said that it will invest 3.3 billion yuan next year to continue to implement the comprehensive management of the water ecological environment.

In addition, Wuhan has invested 87.5 million yuan to dismantle all pearl farming in the city's waters, becoming the first city in the country to withdraw from pearl farming. It completely withdrew from lake cage farming and livestock and poultry breeding within the third Ring Road, and all the central urban areas except Hongshan District withdrew from breeding around the lake.
