In 2008, she, together with the State Association of Science and Technology and the State Pharmaceutical Association, jointly launched a popular science demonstration experiment on selenium-rich vegetables (curbing blue vegetables), which achieved early results in 2009 and became a typical example of science getting rich and science and technology popularization in rural areas. it was awarded the title of "female expert in getting rich through science and technology" by the Enshi municipal party committee and municipal government.

Xintang Township, where Yang Yuanju is located, is an alpine and two-alpine area with a full range of Chinese herbal medicines. Because no one is around to buy them, the Chinese herbal medicines in the mountains fend for themselves and cannot be turned into commodities. In 1996, an accidental purchase of medicinal materials allowed Yang Yuanju to discover the business opportunity for the export of medicinal materials, and quickly set up a purchasing and marketing department of Chinese medicinal materials for take-off, guiding villagers to collect medicine and initial processing, thus turning grass into treasure. as a result, more than 200 farmers in six villages have a stable income.

In order to protect wild medicinal resources, ensure the supply of medicinal materials, and establish stable supply and marketing channels, Yang Yuanju began the planting experiment of traditional Chinese medicine "wild to home" again. After successfully renting land to grow medicine, she guided the surrounding farmers to grow medicinal materials. Through the radiation and drive of the scientific and technological demonstration base, it has successively completed the one-stop service of planting, harvesting and processing of Coptis chinensis, Eucommia ulmoides and Magnolia officinalis, and the number of scientific and technological demonstration households has increased from more than 20 in 2006 to nearly 100. Gradually formed a "wild to home" scientific cultivation-scale standardized planting-unified bottom purchase and sale of the pharmaceutical industry industrialization management pattern.

Xintang Township is a famous selenium-rich area in the country. The State Association of Science and Technology has decided to open up a popular science experimental base of selenium-rich green plants in Xintang Township. Under the guidance of experts from the State Association of Science and Technology and the State Pharmaceutical Association, Yang Yuanju set up a popular science demonstration base for round-leaf blue vegetables, and soon completed the experiment of transplanting and comparative planting of round-leaf blue vegetables. At present, the "wild-to-home" planting has been successful, and June has entered the seed harvest season.

Traditional Chinese medicine industry is a volatile and risky industry. Yang Yuanju, who has been engaged in the acquisition and export of medicinal materials for many years, has become very "sophisticated." now, she has timely adjusted her business strategy to ensure her own interests while ensuring the interests of drug farmers. Under her leadership, Shuanghe Village developed more than 3000 mu of traditional Chinese medicine bases in 2008.
