In 2001, he opened a grain and oil sales store and once again became the first person in Fenghua to run a grain and oil sales enterprise. From the point of view of his style, he is a man who dares to take the lead, and I guess he should also act vigorously. But not long ago, what the reporter saw in front of the grain and oil store he opened was an old man who did not speak loudly and did not like to talk very much. He is Cheng Apei, the outgoing old secretary of Fengnan Village, Jinping Street, Fenghua City. The 63-year-old has won the title of national labor model.

Cheng Abei, 63, can also lift four bags of rice at once.

When Cheng Apei's eldest daughter, in her 40s, saw a reporter interviewing her father, she pulled out a book from the cupboard and said, "it all happened to him 20 years ago. If my father hadn't closed down the small factory to grow grain, our family would be very rich now."

At that time, in the national upsurge of joint output contracting, Fengnan Village, Daqiao Town, Fenghua (now Fengnan Village, Jinping Street) also began to implement joint output contracting, and encountered trouble when dividing a piece of land. The field covers an area of 135mu, accounting for 1/3 of the village's land, but it has three major disadvantages: it is too far from the village, it is 5km away, and it is at the junction of three townships, so it is easy to cause disputes when irrigating. Since there was no one to contract the land, Cheng Ngapei, secretary of the village party branch, could not bear to see the fields deserted. He contracted the land to grow early and late rice and rape, becoming the largest grain grower in Fenghua.

When the eldest daughter sat beside her, she was a little excited when she heard her father talk about it: "at that time, our whole family opposed it. His hardware factory was well run and made a lot of money, but he went to plant land that no one else wanted to grow. He did this in order to contribute to the country." it's kind of stupid. " In the face of his daughter's complaint, Cheng Ah-pei smiled and said, "No wonder she complained that it really dragged down the whole family. I couldn't take care of so much land by myself, so I asked my eldest daughter to help me and hired four or five farmers."

Cheng Ah Pei had great courage in growing grain. He not only adopted scientific farming methods and introduced new varieties, but also invested more than 200,000 yuan to buy a combine harvester, but because of the poor quality of the soil, he actually earned only 20,000 to 30,000 yuan a year. In 1988, Cheng Abei, as the only typical among the major grain growers in our province, was awarded as a model worker in Zhejiang Province; in 1989, Cheng Abei was named a national model worker.

In August 1999, due to the needs of national construction, all the 135 mu of land contracted by him was requisitioned. He suddenly had nothing to do and became a grain merchant. that year, he invested 500000 yuan to set up a rice factory in the village, mainly processing grain and feed. He became the first major grain grower in Ningbo to produce and process one-stop grain, but the rice factory was booming for only two years. Business failed. As more and more fields gave way to other industries, Fenghua was no longer the main grain producing area, and the rice source of the rice factory became a problem. In 2001, Cheng started his business for the third time. He raised money to set up Fenghua Abai Grain Management Co., Ltd., which is the first grain management company set up by Fenghua farmers after the opening of grain purchase and sale.

The reporter saw in the Apemi store that bags of rice and noodles were stacked neatly, and Cheng Ngapoi was still carrying rice bags for the villagers who came to buy rice. Growing grain all the year round made Cheng Ah Pei's body very strong, and he also moved four bags of rice to the reporter on the spot. Now Cheng Ah Pei and his wife's main job every day is to run and manage the grain store and take care of their little grandson. The eldest daughter said that Cheng Ngapei, who is over 60 years old, is still idle all day, often giving rice to people on a tricycle.

Cheng Ah Pei has four children, three daughters and a son. The eldest daughter and his wife run the Apemi store with him. The other two daughters become teachers after graduating from college, and their son runs a kindergarten. Cheng Abei told reporters that as a model among farmers, the state gives him a monthly financial subsidy of 300 yuan and lives quite well.
