Recently, the reporter saw a small river in Yunfeng Village, Fangshan Town, Jiangyang District, Luzhou City: more than 2000 gray swans were playing in the ditch, taking a nap in the shed on the bank, and grazing on ryegrass and lettuce in more than 50 mu of loquat woodland on the shore. While picking up gray swan eggs in the shed, Zhou Debin, the owner of the gray swan farm, told the reporter: "I have invested in raising gray swans for six years and invested more than 1 million, and now I finally see hope. According to the current market price of 50 yuan per kilogram, a gray swan can get a net profit of more than 100 yuan. "

"I can embark on the road of gray swan breeding, thanks to the second Agricultural Expo held in Luzhou." Zhou Debin said that in September 2003, at the second Luzhou Expo held in Fuji, Luxian County, Zhou Debin was immediately attracted by the gray swan breeding project when he walked to the exhibition hall of Luxian County. After several days of inspection and consulting relevant materials, he resolutely bought 135 breeding geese from the participating farm at the price of 500 yuan each, rented 10 mu of land in Mianhuapo Town, Naxi District, and began his dream of gray swans.

In order to make his dream of gray swan wealth come true as soon as possible, Zhou Debin did not dare to be careless in any link in the breeding process and strictly operated every link. But what Zhou Debin did not expect was that in less than three months, 135 breeding geese died one after another. Zhou Debin did not give up. He invested 150000 yuan to take over all the breeding geese from the swan farm in Luxian County.

With the last failure, Zhou Debin dared not be careless. He got in touch with the owners of two gray swan farms in the field and exchanged breeding experience with each other from time to time. At the same time, he also consulted animal husbandry experts. Due to the fine management, after several months of breeding, the survival rate of his more than 300 breeding geese is very high, and most female swans also begin to lay eggs. However, Zhou Debin suffered another blow: the breeding eggs laid by gray swans could not hatch goslings all the time, and occasionally they could hatch a few, mostly deformed.

Things took a turn for the better in October 2008. Zhou Debin heard that Fangshan Town in Jiangyang District had introduced an enterprise specializing in hatching goose, duck and chicken seedlings, and immediately reached an agreement with the other side that all his goose eggs were handed over to the enterprise to hatch. In order to facilitate egg hatching, in January this year, Zhou Debin moved the farm to Yunfeng Village, Fangshan Town.

"in the end, the technology is different. In the second half of last year, the hatching survival rate of nearly 3000 eggs laid by more than 200 geese was as high as 80%. Otherwise, the scale of my swan breeding could not have grown so fast." Zhou Debin was overjoyed, and he also had a new plan for the next step of development. "at present, more than 2600 swans will be reserved as breeding geese in accordance with the breeding requirements of 1 ∶ 4, that is, one male goose with four female geese, and the number of breeding geese will reach more than 7000 by the end of the year. Breeding geese begin to lay eggs after eight months of feeding, and the laying period is up to four years. On average, a breeder goose lays 23 eggs at the lowest level a year, and the hatching survival rate is calculated at 80%. Nearly 100000 commercial gray swans can be provided to the market next year. Based on the profit of 100 yuan each, the annual profit can reach 10 million. "
