June 24 was the happiest day for Liu Yongcai, a red deer farmer from the 148 regiment of the eighth Agricultural Division. His wife, Wang Xiuzhi, was weighing the fresh velvet antler that had just been cut on the scale and said happily, "there are as many as 14 kilograms!" It turned out that one of the red deer they raised produced 14 kilograms of velvet antler. This is the highest yield of red deer raised by Liu Yongcai and his wife in the past 12 years, and the total output of velvet antler is expected to reach 300 kilograms.

Liu Yongcai was originally an ordinary cadre in the agricultural products sales department of the 148th Regiment. He has been engaged in sales work for many years. Once again, Liu Yongcai went on a business trip to the northeast and learned that the benefits of raising red deer were very objective. He then came up with the idea of raising red deer.

In 1997, Liu Yongcai pooled together to raise 120000 yuan to buy 12 Tahe red deer from southern Xinjiang at one time and try to raise them.

At the beginning, due to the lack of breeding technology and experience, the lack of understanding of the living habits of red deer, and the poor equipment, not only the cost was high, but there was little benefit. At the beginning of 1998, a male deer suddenly developed diarrhea. Due to lack of experience and technology, he could not treat himself, so he asked a veterinarian for treatment from the second agricultural division. He not only underwrote round-trip air tickets, but also paid high treatment fees. After spending several thousand yuan, it finally led to the death of this red deer due to untimely treatment. A male deer is worth more than 10,000 yuan. Moreover, in order to raise red deer, he still has a debt of more than 100,000 yuan, facing huge losses and blame from his family. Liu Yongcai secretly made up his mind to get out of the predicament and develop red deer farming.

He realized that red deer farming is a technical job, and it is impossible to rely on enthusiasm and drive alone. At that time, Liu Yongcai sent his wife Wang Xiuzhi to study veterinary medicine at Radio and TV University. while raising red deer at home, he bought books and CDs to seriously learn red deer farming techniques. he also invited experts to his farm for technical guidance at all costs.

When it comes to Wang Xiuzhi, she can also be said to be a strong woman. in 1992, when she worked in an enterprise in the regiment farm, her right arm was amputated due to a mechanical accident. With a strong nature, she also had a strong interest in red deer breeding. however, she only has a junior high school education. She is in her 40s, so is it easy to go to college and talk about peace? There is no doubt that she has to give more than others.

Wang Xiuzhi said that at that time, she was the oldest student in the class, and it was very hard to study. Every day she had to spend more time doing her homework than others. Some students advised her that you are so old, so don't learn if you can't. But Wang Xiuzhi knew in her heart that only when she had the technology, she could develop red deer farming very well. She clenched her teeth and persisted in learning. In 2001, Wang Xiuzhi successfully obtained her diploma and veterinary qualification certificate. Now Wang Xiuzhi can not only accurately diagnose the common diseases of red deer, but also cure them with medicine. Husband Liu Yongcai can also be regarded as successful at home, providing a reliable technical guarantee for their red deer breeding.

After several years of hard work, Liu Yongcai is familiar with the living habits and feeding skills of red deer, he has also mastered the technology of artificial breeding, and he has introduced sika deer to cross with red deer. This hybrid breed is not only large in size and strong in disease resistance, but also has high antler yield, good quality and good market potential.

The problems of breeding technology and disease diagnosis and treatment have been solved smoothly, the scale of breeding is also expanding, and the output of velvet antler, deer blood and other products is also increasing year by year. In theory, now Liu Yongcai can rest easy and make a lot of money, but things have backfired. The following problems make Liu Yongcai and his wife have a bigger headache.

Due to the lack of publicity, no merchants came to his farm to buy deer products, and occasionally some small vendors could not give a good price, and the purchase volume was also very small, so Liu Yongcai had no choice but to look for the market everywhere with his own products on his back. he has almost run all over the wholesale markets and special product fairs in the mainland, but to no avail.

In 2003, he was introduced by his friends and participated in the special products fair organized by the China Special products Association. Once his deer products were exhibited, they attracted many businessmen. This time, Liu Yongcai also knew a lot of friends. Since then, his products have opened a market.

Now, Liu Yongcai's deer products have become shooter goods, and many mainland businessmen come to order his products every year. In order to further attract customers and improve the added value of the products, Liu Yongcai also invested in purchasing processing equipment for deep processing of deer products. His deer antler tablets, deer antler powder, deer blood wine, deer heart wine, deer whip wine and other products can increase the added value by more than 3 times, and he has registered a trademark for his own products. His "9,000-year-old" brand green deer products have sold well all over the country and are favored by consumers.
