In 2000, Tong Xiu was laid off and joined the ranks of migrant workers, but she thought that this was never a long-term solution, so she began to explore a new way to get rich. After more than a month of market research, she found that the aquaculture industry is a new field worth exploring. After targeting the pig market, she said to do it. In early 2002, Tong Xiu cobbled together 30,000 yuan to set up Dongcheng Sanyuan piglet breeding farm, introduced 25 breeding pigs locally, and bred more than 280 piglets that year.

As the saying goes, everything is difficult at the beginning. However, in 2007, her pig farm was attacked by highly pathogenic blue ear disease of pigs, resulting in devastating losses. There was no pig left in the pig house. Just when she was desperate, the party's policy and the warmth of the government regained her confidence. Using government subsidies and self-raised funds, she introduced more than 200 improved sows from other places in stages and batches. After her scientific management and meticulous breeding, the farm reached its present scale.

Since then, Tong Xiu has made it his compulsory course to learn advanced technology. In September 2003, with the formal launch of the pilot work of modern distance education for party members and cadres in rural areas, distance education resources and the network provided a platform for her to query breeding information. In recent years, making use of network resources and combining with local reality, she has successfully applied many kinds of modern breeding techniques, such as limited feeding, high bed conservation, early weaning, artificial insemination and water curtain cooling, to farmers.

At present, the pig market is in the doldrums, and Tong Xiu's farm has encountered a bottleneck in its development. she has applied for a small guarantee loan of 200000 yuan from the employment department to repair the fence in preparation for the upcoming peak. She also established a cooperative relationship with Tuanbao Middle School and other schools to provide them with piglets, feed and technology, which not only broadened the market, but also made the majority of middle school students eat reassuring meat.

"one branch alone is not spring, a hundred flowers blossom in spring." Tong Xiu became rich through hard work and scientific breeding, but she did not forget her fellow villagers. Tong Xiu adopts the way of "three responsible commitment contracts" which is responsible for credit sales, technology and recycling to develop farmers, and carries out technical promotion with the idea of "developing one household, consolidating one household, and then driving one side," driving more than 50 farmers to raise pigs scientifically, increasing the income of nearby farmers by more than 500000 yuan a year.

In order to facilitate the transportation of people around her, she also contributed 10,000 yuan to build group-level roads; in order that the rice fields of the masses would not be polluted, she contributed more than 5000 yuan to build sewerage pipes; in order to let people eat clean and safe water, she invested more than 8000 yuan to drill a well more than 20 meters deep; in order to drive one industry, she often sent fertilizer from pig farms to people's orchards, vegetable fields, and rice fields. As a result, she is well received by the local people.

In September 2007, at the request of the majority of farmers, Tong Xiu set up a professional cooperative for pig farming in Dongcheng, and she was elected chairman and legal representative. At present, the cooperative has more than 20 full members, and the cooperative adopts the operation form of leading enterprises connecting camps and farmers in the camp zone, so that the promotion of aquaculture technology has a reliable guarantee. The four-in-one service system of "supply, technology, information and sales" has been gradually established. According to a sample survey, at present, the breeding cost of each pig in the cooperative is 56 yuan lower than before, which can increase the annual income of farmers in all-professional cooperatives by more than 300,000 yuan.

Tong Xiu has been struggling for nearly 10 years, and because of her outstanding contribution, ordinary people affectionately call her "the king of raising pigs".
