Deng Rongzhi: college students are famous for raising shrimp.
In 2003, Deng Rongzhi graduated from Guangxi University majoring in aquaculture. There are two ways in front of him: stay in the city or return to his hometown. Fate takes great care of this farmer who has finished his studies in poverty. A city job with a monthly income of several thousand yuan is the envy of the students. But Deng Rongzhi hesitated, the sea, the beach, the expectation of the villagers eager to get rich, the dream of turning their major into productivity. In the end, he made a decision that puzzled most people: go back to his hometown to raise shrimp!

People in the village can't help but wonder: you come back only when you can't live in the city, do you? Deng Rongzhi answered all kinds of questions with wordless actions. His hometown, Nali Town, Qinzhou, Guangxi, is suitable for aquaculture. At that time, shrimp farming was booming in the village, and many villagers used shallow tidal flats and low-yield fields to transform into shrimp ponds, and were generally in urgent need of technical guidance and services.
Deng Rongzhi seriously thought about the path of starting a business to become rich: the technical content of culture determines the survival and yield of shrimp. "I'm going to hold this bull by the nose!" Deng Rongzhi did not hesitate to raise funds to set up shrimp feed and drug stores, and personally carried out breeding experiments, and soon mastered a set of efficient shrimp culture technology. In the business, he cares about the villagers, abides by his reputation, and provides credit services for shrimp farmers. At the same time, he also took the trouble to teach shrimp culture techniques and shrimp disease prevention methods to farmers who came to buy feed and medicine, followed up technical services in shrimp ponds, and provided acquisition information when shrimp was harvested. Starting a business is more difficult than he can imagine. His knowledge needs to be recharged and his funds are stretched. In the most difficult time, he doesn't even have feed or living expenses, and he is supported by loans.
In order to further improve the breeding technology, provide convincing sample experience for shrimp farmers, and to show his determination to take root in the countryside, Deng Rongzhi rented more than 50 mu of shrimp ponds to cultivate prawns himself, and used it as a demonstration base for technical training. He tutored hand in hand, and the farmers soon mastered the excellent skills, and each of them became an expert in shrimp farming. Over the past year, of the 57 households under the guidance of Deng Rongzhi, 49 have achieved success in breeding, with a success rate of more than 80%. Among them, 36 farmers have had a bumper harvest under his guidance, with an annual per capita net income of more than 50,000 yuan, and have embarked on the road of prosperity by raising shrimp. Shrimp farmers praised: "thanks to the 'shrimp professor' for helping us a lot. He helped us get rich."
In order to enter the market together to resist risks, Deng Rongzhi established the Land Tian Village Shrimp Culture Association in early 2006, and served as the chairman of the association. The association supports its members by providing a series of follow-up services from the transformation of member shrimp ponds, the selection of shrimp fry, the management of water quality and the prevention and control of diseases to the purchase of adult shrimp. Deng Rongzhi also set up a "farm class" in his feed store to teach shrimp farmers from afar for free. Today, shrimp farmers armed with science and technology have bred prawns weighing more than 20 grams and yielding more than 500 kilograms per mu, and even raised a record shrimp with a specification of 30 grams and a yield of more than 500 kilograms per mu. The quality of shrimp meets the export standards, and the economic benefits are very obvious.
Since 2007, the Tutian Village Shrimp Culture Association has been awarded as the "Top Ten Farmers' Class" in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region. Deng Rongzhi himself has also won the titles of "Ten Outstanding Young Farmers" in Qinzhou City, "experts in Science and Technology" issued by Guangxi Science and Technology Department, "excellent League cadres" in Qinzhou City and "Ten Outstanding Youth" in the fourth session of Qinzhou City. In 2009, Deng Rongzhi was awarded the title of "Outstanding Young Peasant in China" in the 13th session.
On July 24, 2008, Comrade Lu Hao, first secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Youth League Central Committee, went to Tutian Village for an inspection and spoke highly of Deng Rongzhi's actions. In accordance with the requirements of Secretary Lu Hao that "regiment organizations can be established on the industrial chain", Deng Rongzhi set up a regiment branch in the Shrimp Culture Association. The 31 members of the League Branch come from different administrative regions, and the League Branch of the Shrimp Culture Association has become the first league organization in Qinzhou to break the administrative and regionalization and establish within the OECD. With the call to change the current situation of rural youth poverty and the goal of leading young people to get rich, the League branch attracted and condensed a large number of rural young people to the League organization, and the regiment flag became a bright color of the shrimp culture association.
At present, the membership of Deng Rongzhi Shrimp Culture Association has increased to more than 300, the success rate of shrimp culture has reached more than 90%, and the total output of shrimp has reached 3700 tons.
In October 2008, Deng Rongzhi visited Germany with a Chinese youth delegation led by Comrade Lu Hao. During his visit to Germany, his deeds and the situation of the shrimp farming association in Tutian Village aroused great interest from the German side.
On December 22, 2008, Deng Rongzhi attended the national forum of university student village officials held in Zhongnanhai. He reported and communicated to members of the standing Committee of the political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Vice President Xi Jinping, and representatives on how college students give full play to their professional advantages in rural areas and how to take root in rural areas.
