"there are beautiful scenery on both sides of the Quanjiang River, and men and women, old and young, are busy picking tea. The mountain tea is green, and the fragrance of the tea makes the villagers drunk. " This folk song sings Qiaotou Township, Guidong County, Chenzhou, Hunan Province. Chen Shihong, a big tea grower in the township, amazed the author even more. The 50-year-old Chen Shihong only attended school for a year and a half, but he taught himself. He already has the intermediate title of agricultural technician, and has been rated as "excellent rural scientific and technological practical talents in Hunan Province."

In 1999, in order to invigorate the collective assets, the Qiaotou Township Party Committee and the government decided to conduct a public auction and lease operation of the township tea farm with an area of 100 mu of tea garden. After market analysis, Chen Shihong believes that tea is a natural green drink, while the land in Qiaotou Township is fertile, with years of clouds, gurgling water, sometimes bright sunshine, sometimes torrential rain, large temperature difference between day and night, and sufficient diffuse light and ultraviolet rays. It is an ideal place to develop pollution-free and high-quality tea, and the prospect of developing tea is very optimistic. Therefore, he did not hesitate to sign a lease contract with the township government. After the tea farm was rented, Chen Shihong devoted himself to the management of the tea garden. Through a series of measures such as reclamation, fertilization, pruning, and weeding, thick and strong buds grew that year, making the tea farm full of vitality.

However, due to the aging of the varieties of the original tea garden, although Chen Shihong left early and returned late and carefully managed, the tea picking cycle was too long, and the output of the tea garden he rented could not go up. In 2002, by chance, Chen Shihong met a boss named Huang Chenglong of Fuzhou Institute of Agricultural Sciences in Fujian Province. Because both of them loved tea like life, they became partners after meeting each other in a few words. Soon, Boss Huang personally sent 430000 seedlings of two fine varieties, Fuyun 6 and Bai Maozao, to Chen Shihong at a price of 0.13 yuan each, and Chen Shihong and the villagers carried out variety improvement. These two kinds of tea can sprout six times a year and take a long time to pick tea, so that the yield of the tea garden has been greatly increased and the benefit has been greatly increased.

The quantity of Chen Shihong tea has gone up, but compared with other brands of tea, the price of tea with the same weight is much less. Chen Shihong suddenly realized that in order to improve the economic efficiency of the tea garden, we must run a good processing plant, rely on science and technology to process tea, and improve the added value of tea. To this end, Chen Shihong went to Zhejiang, Fujian and other famous tea houses to visit and study. At his own expense, he went to Hunan Agricultural University to study for a month, specializing in tea processing technology. He eagerly studied the knowledge of growing and making tea, studied dozens of publications about tea, and took a lot of notes and thoughts. Moved by Chen Shihong's sincerity, several respected professors of Hunan Agricultural University personally came to Chen Shihong's processing plant to demonstrate tea production on the spot. Under the guidance of a famous teacher, Chen Shihong boldly reformed the process and formula of making tea. after numerous trials, finally, his tea was white and shaped like snow teeth. The tea is clear and bright and the color is green. Drink a sip of tea, people have a long-lasting fragrance, full mouth Shengjin, swing heart and clean lungs.

In order to further expand the tea industry and drive more people to develop tea production, Chen Shihong successively leased and contracted several tea farms in Baishui Village, Hongqiao Village, and Xiadan Village in Qingquan Town, a neighboring town, covering an area of more than 600 mu. Qiaotou Tea Cooperative has also been set up, 118 members have been developed, and unified planting, cultivation techniques, brand and sales have been carried out. Last year, more than 200 surplus workers were arranged and more than 70 were employed. Driven by him, in 2006 alone, more than 500 households developed and cultivated 1500 mu of organic tea. Huang Yingzhi, a villager of Shijiao Group in Hongqiao Village, has planted 12 mu of tea with an annual income of more than 50,000 yuan under Chen Shihong's hand-in-hand teaching.

In Chen Shihong's small building, Chen Shihong told me that in 2006, he produced a total of 16000 jin of tea, with an average price of 34.30 yuan per jin, with the highest price reaching 280 yuan per jin, with a net profit of 120000 yuan for tea alone. In 2007, he introduced four varieties, including Lantern Green, Fuding Dabai, Huang Guanyin and Taicha 12, from Fujian and Zhejiang. At present, more than 600,000 seedlings of the first batch have arrived in his tea garden.
