Chen Mengqing, 61, has been growing rice for decades. Since 1995, he has learned the two light cultivation techniques of rice direct seeding and seedling throwing, and has actively tried to become the farmer in Fenghui Town who has adopted the new technology to grow rice most frequently.

In 2000, he tried to plough the land without a machine and flatten the field directly by direct seeding and throwing seedlings to grow early rice. The results showed that the effect of no-tillage direct seeding and no-tillage seedling throwing was very good, and the yield of early rice was about 400 kg per mu. More crucially, it saves the cost of farming. Over time, farmers in surrounding villages have learned no-tillage techniques from him, and Fenghui has become the place with the largest number of "no-tillage rice" in Shangyu.

Last year, Chen Mengqing learned the technique of transplanting rice seedlings with a rice machine. This year, he planted more than 30 mu of early rice in the ploughing machine, and did not forget the habit of "no-tillage" and tried to grow 6 mu of early rice by the way of no-tillage.

"the experiment shows that there is little difference in the growth of early rice between no-tillage and ploughing." Chen Mengqing said: according to the analysis of the current growth situation, the late high yield is almost a foregone conclusion, and the goal of no-tillage machine insertion has been achieved.

He said that compared with the ploughing machine, the no-tillage machine insertion technology is also relatively simple. First of all, the field is required to be relatively flat, suitable for transplanter operation; second, weeding and cleaning before transplanting, irrigation and soaking the field in advance, in order to achieve the effect of similar ploughing. After the seedlings are planted in the field, the management is no different from that of the ploughing machine.

The reporter learned from the Shangyu Municipal Bureau of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry that the relevant units of the bureau are also exploring the no-tillage machine insertion technology created by Chen Mengqing on a small scale this year. According to the experiment of high yield of early rice in Changtang town, the tiller of early rice planted by no-tillage machine is normal and grows well. Compared with the ploughing machine, the early rice planted by no-tillage machine is less likely to lodge in the later stage. The calculation shows that after using the no-tillage machine insertion technology, the cost of machine ploughing and soil preparation can be saved at least 110 ~ 115 yuan per mu, and about 100 yuan can be saved except for the extra herbicide cost of 15 yuan per mu.

Chen Zhongqiu, chief agronomic master of grain and oil industry in Shangyu City, said that no-tillage technology can ensure that the soil structure of farmland is not destroyed, reduce machine and energy consumption, and improve fertility, but it may lead to soil consolidation in the long run. Soil deep ploughing technology has obvious weeding effect, but it is easy to destroy soil structure. There are many views in academic circles, and the latest point of view advocates shallow ploughing or less ploughing. From the experimental results, the no-tillage machine insertion technology is effective in labor-saving and cost-saving, and Shangyu will be popularized in a certain range next year.
