Yang Guorong, Yang Xiaoping, and Yang Xiaosheng, three villagers from Jingtang Village, Shangxing Town, Liyang City, Changzhou, who were working on a project in Suzhou, specially returned to their hometown a few days ago to participate in the training of a peasant training school founded by Lin Fuchun, a village branch secretary. They studied the training of sweet-scented osmanthus industry. This is the second time they have attended the training.

On the eve of Arbor Day last year, the Yang brothers were deeply inspired by the invitation to attend a training course on sweet-scented osmanthus cultivation techniques in the village. They planted 2000 sweet-scented osmanthus trees at once, and the three brothers humorously called them "old-age trees." Since 2004, like the Yang brothers, more than 500 farmers have embarked on the road of flowers and trees through farmer training schools, with nearly 30, 000 mu of sweet-scented osmanthus and more than 5000 mu of other flowers and trees.

How could Lin Fuchun think of setting up a farmer training school? Ten years ago, he accidentally met a professor of Nanjing Forestry University, who told him that sweet-scented osmanthus is a traditional famous flower in China, which integrates greening, beautification and fragrance, and has high ornamental, edible and medicinal value. and has both beauty and health care functions, the international market value of natural sweet-scented osmanthus essence exceeds gold, and the development prospect is very broad. Liyang City, which is located in hilly and mountainous areas, is very suitable for planting sweet-scented osmanthus trees. The professor's "golden idea" made Lin Fuchun, who was looking for ways to get rich, so excited that he immediately decided to cooperate with Nanlin University to research and develop the sweet-scented osmanthus industry.

After coming back, Lin Fuchun contracted more than 3000 mu of barren mountains on Fangshan and Zhishan in his hometown Jingtang Village, introduced more than 80 and 120000 sweet-scented osmanthus varieties from four species, established a sweet-scented osmanthus base, and set up an Fangzhi forest ecological agricultural garden. after years of efforts, it has invested more than 3000 million yuan, successfully developed and planted more than 2000 mu of sweet-scented osmanthus and 1000 mu of rare and high-quality tea fruits, achieving an annual output value of 80 million yuan. It is expected that the output value per mu of sweet-scented osmanthus can reach 8000 yuan. At present, the sweet-scented osmanthus base has been listed as the international sweet-scented osmanthus base and the province's first sweet-scented osmanthus industrial base.

In order to expand the sweet-scented osmanthus industry and bring the rich people, Lin Fuchun gave full play to the exemplary and leading role of leading agricultural enterprises, actively organized and guided farmers to participate in the development of industrialization, and adopted the development model of "company + base + farmers." not only planted sweet-scented osmanthus on both sides of rural roads and machine-ploughing roads, but also mobilized farmers to plant sweet-scented osmanthus in courtyards and villages. In order to solve the technical problems of farmers in the cultivation of sweet-scented osmanthus, he established the first farmer training school in Liyang in 2004. In addition to hiring professors of Nanlin University to teach at his own expense, he also used scientific and technological CD-ROMs to teach farmers and organized farmers to go to their own base to teach them in person.

According to statistics, over the past five years, the school has trained 10,000 farmers for free, driving the surrounding farmers to develop nearly 30,000 mu of sweet-scented osmanthus bases, thus forming a 10,000-mu sweet-scented osmanthus industrial park with Fangzhi Forest Ecological Park as the core and radiating the whole city. "strive to build the first standardized spice base in southern Jiangsu by 2011, so as to produce economies of scale." Lin Fuchun said.
