Autumn August is another harvest season for Zhu Guangyu and his family who live in Hongyan Village of Xiaozhaiba. His family can pick more than 1000 jin of fresh grapes on 12 mu of land. according to the market value of 2.50 yuan per jin, the output value can reach 25000 yuan. With the income of grape commodity seedlings, the annual household income can reach more than 32000 yuan.

From a bricklayer to a big grape grower

In 1977, Zhu Guangyu, a former carpenter and bricklayer, brought back 11 grape seedlings from his father-in-law in the same village and planted them in front and behind his house. In the following years, every autumn, the family will be able to eat crystal grapes. In 1982, Zhu Guangyu built shelves for grapes. After the vines were on the shelves, the growth was even more gratifying, and the yield of grapes also increased, so he picked some and gave them to relatives and friends. The grapes are delicious and sweet as honey, and gradually people come to buy them. More and more people come to the door so that Zhu Guangyu sees the business opportunity to get rich.

In order to further increase grape yield and increase grape varieties, in 1987, Zhu Guangyu bought high-quality grape seedlings such as "Jufeng", "White Banana" and "Red Rose" from * * and other places, and planted all his dry land with grapes. As the years passed, the varieties introduced from the outside could only see the long vines but not a few clusters of grapes, while the original 11 grapes had a bumper harvest every year. In 1992, Guizhou Agricultural College organized experts to investigate Hongyan and found that it was quartz sandy red soil formed by weathering of Danxia landform, which was not suitable for planting northern grape varieties, but had the conditions for crystal grape growth. As a result, Zhu Guangyu's family painfully dug up the "Jufeng", "white banana" and "red rose" in the field and planted all the crystal grapes, so they became professional grape growers and embarked on the road to wealth.

Yellowed ledger

Zhu Guangyu has a yellowed account book recording his experience of developing grape cultivation, including a group of income data from grapes: 960 yuan in 1993, 1960 yuan in 1994, 4023 yuan in 1995, 4900 yuan in 1996, and 10688 yuan in 1997. 25018 yuan in 2006. Behind this set of data, he shows the ups and downs of growing grapes and his persistent and tenacious determination to get rich.

"the purpose of bookkeeping is to make a comparison, who knows that the more you remember, the more confident you will be." Zhu Guangyu told reporters. Since 1995, his four children have entered high school and college, and their tuition and living expenses are paid for by grape income. Today, one son and one daughter have graduated from college to work, and the other two children have regular jobs after graduating from high school, leaving him and his wife to manage the family vineyard. "I'm usually a little bitter and tired, but when I think of a harvest in autumn, I have strength all over." Zhu Guangyu's wife confessed. In 2005, Zhu Guangyu knocked down the earth wall house, spent more than 100,000 yuan to build a three-story building, bought color TV sets, refrigerators, DVD and other household appliances, as well as motorcycles, used liquefied gas and induction cookers, and lived the same life as city dwellers.

Aim at new industries

"when you get rich, you don't forget all the villagers." while planting and managing his own vineyard, Zhu Guangyu drives and helps other villagers to develop the grape planting industry. In addition to cultivating seedlings for everyone, he often provides technical guidance such as fertilization, pruning and fruit thinning for the villagers free of charge. Led by him, every household in the village has planted grapes, and the villagers have embarked on the road of prosperity. Now, like Zhu Guangyu, there are more than 100 grape growers in Hongyan Village who are immersed in the joy of harvest.

At present, Zhu Guangyu sees the market prospect of planting cherries and plans to develop cherry planting around the vineyard, improve land utilization, and take the three-dimensional way of intercropping development. He believes that in the near future, he will stand out in cherry planting and become the enviable "cherry king".
