The basis for the growth of edible fungi is a suitable medium. pH value is a very important item among various indicators of the medium. Most of the mycelium of edible fungi can grow between pH 4-8, and for each variety, there is a most suitable pH range. This most suitable range is much smaller. The most suitable pH value (pH value) for most edible fungi is between 5.8 and 6.5.

For most of the edible mushroom factory enterprises, they can master the pH value of the culture medium well, but there are also some enterprises and most of the mushroom farmers who cannot master the pH value well, and there are certain misunderstandings in this respect.

The pH value (pH value) after sterilization is what we want. It is the pH value (pH value) after sterilization that directly affects the growth of mycelium. Many people only pay attention to the pH value (pH value) during mixing. The pH value (pH value) will change during mixing, bagging and sterilization. The amount of pH value (pH value) change is related to the medium formula, ambient temperature, mixing and bagging time, sterilization effect and time. Therefore, according to the pH value (pH value) change after sterilization, To adjust the pH value (pH value) when mixing materials, that is to say, the pH value (pH value) before and after sterilization should be measured.

Lime (calcium hydroxide) is usually used to adjust pH (pH) in the formula of edible mushroom culture medium. However, if lime is only added, the pH (pH) changes greatly during the process of mixing, bagging and sterilization, and the pH (pH) after sterilization becomes very low. Many people solve this problem by increasing the amount of lime added. It is recommended that gypsum or calcium carbonate be added to the formula to buffer the pH, and at the same time, the waiting time before bagging and sterilization should be shortened as much as possible.

pH measurement method:

1. pH test paper

pH test paper, divided into wide pH test paper and precision pH test paper, wide pH test paper can be accurate to 1, precision pH test paper can be accurate to 0.1.

2, pH tester

pH tester is a special instrument for measuring pH (pH), and the measurement accuracy can reach 0.01.

For mushroom farmers or small edible fungi factories, pH test paper can be used, and pH tester must be used for industrial production of edible fungi.
