With the fragrance of oranges in the golden autumn, there is a bumper harvest in the orange orchard of Zheng Yufang, a big citrus grower in Jiukeng Township. Orange farmers are busy picking fruits, selecting fruits and loading baskets, ready to sell to customers who come to buy oranges.

Zheng Yufang, 38, is a native of Zhonglian Village in Jiukeng Township. For many years, she has cultivated barren mountains with passion and created wealth with perseverance in line with the belief that there is only hope if there is a dream in her heart. After more than ten years of hard work, she has more than 106mu of high-quality and high-yield citrus demonstration base, rich in 180000 jin of oranges in 2007, with an annual output value of 150000 yuan, and the annual output value in 2008 is expected to break through the 200000 yuan mark.

Zheng Yufang was born into an ordinary family in Zhonglian Village, but because there was so little land in her family, she guarded one mu of land and lived a poor life of sunrise and sunset. Zheng Yufang had no choice but to go out to work. Apart from fiddling with a bit of thin land at home, generations of people have more or less planted some oranges. Due to the suitable climate and land, the oranges produced locally have the unique flavor of large fruit, thin skin, sweet taste and colorful color. Nanpu red mandarin is also inadvertently famous.

Zheng Yufang, who works in Hangzhou, works comfortably and comfortably, but she has been eager to return to her hometown to start a new career. In order to realize this wish, she looked for information and market information at the same time. After a period of investigation and analysis, she aimed at the organic fruit development project. At this time, in 1993, the local government called on the villagers to plant oranges on a large scale, but because the traffic was extremely inconvenient, the information was quite scarce, the villagers' ideas lagged behind, and the villagers had doubts about the development of oranges. Planting enthusiasm is not high. Zheng Yufang, who works in Hangzhou, immediately rushed home when she heard the news. She thought that Nanpu red oranges in Hokeng had certain popularity, green mountains and green waters, fertile soil, obvious lake effect, abundant rainfall, and unique natural conditions for the development of citrus production. Today, with the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the market prospect of high-quality and high-grade oranges is getting wider and wider. After careful consideration, Zheng Yufang, in the goodwill dissuasion of relatives and friends, resolutely contracted 106 mu of barren mountains of the village collective and signed a 50-year barren mountain transfer contract.

In the face of the barren mountains overgrown with weeds, Zheng Yufang, who graduated from high school, hired experts to test and analyze the acidity, topography, and geomorphology of the barren mountains. The results show that the barren mountains have four distinct seasons, moderate rainfall, sufficient light, and fertile soil. It's a suitable place for oranges. The result of this appraisal strengthened Zheng Yufang's confidence and courage in developing orange orchards. Zheng Yufang is determined to tell her neighbors with her own actions: I will rely on science and technology and hard work to turn this barren mountain into an orange garden! The little woman, in the puzzled eyes of the people, began to open up mountains and prepare the land with her husband, fighting in the heat, fighting in the cold winter, and reclaiming orchards.

Zheng Yufang knows very well that today, with the increasing development of science and technology, we should not only work hard but also work skillfully. For this reason, on the basis of learning lessons from township scientists and technicians, Zheng Yufang subscribed to a large number of citrus cultivation technology newspapers and periodicals, began to learn while working, soaked in the orange orchard during the day, stayed up all night at night, and called county and township scientific and technological personnel if she didn't understand. ask for advice modestly. With the unremitting efforts of Zheng Yufang and finally according to the requirements of the pollution-free standard demonstration base, 50 mu of terraced soil has been reclaimed, all of which are planted with high-quality oranges. Four years later, 50 mu of oranges had a profit, and the joy of a bumper harvest aroused her great enthusiasm for growing oranges. Zheng Yuhua finally completed the task of transforming 106 mu of barren mountains in 1998 through the mode of year-by-year development.

In the process of cultivation and management, Zheng Yufang carried out green and pollution-free cultivation, fertilization, pest control, scientific flower and fruit thinning, scientific shaping and pruning to ensure the ecological, environmental protection and pollution-free quality of the fruit. The products in her orchard are smooth and beautiful, pure taste, very popular with consumers, products are exported to Guangzhou, Shunde and other markets. In 2002, the oranges in her orchard participated in the Zhejiang Citrus Festival in China and won a quality award. In 2004, with the needs of market development, she implemented the new technology of "three thinning and two changes" in time; in 2005, she implemented new technologies such as high replacement, reflective film covering, insecticidal lamp and so on, which further improved the quality of fruit, and at the same time, her annual income was also doubling.

Over the years, through her own hard exploration, Zheng Yufang has accumulated rich practical experience in planting and finally opened the door to getting rich through science and technology. under her leadership and guidance, the citrus planting area in the township has grown to more than 6000 mu, the citrus excellent fruit rate is more than 70 percent, and more than 20 large citrus growers are expected to exceed 8000 tons this year, with an output value of more than 15 million yuan.
