"Nine floods in ten years, but no harvest in three years." this is the helplessness of local farmers to the once barren land. Today, the more than 20, 000 mu of low-lying land in Jiangxiang Town, Nanchang County, on the banks of Poyang Lake and Huanghu, has been transformed into a "national pollution-free rice planting base" and a "national agricultural comprehensive development demonstration zone for the construction of a new countryside." the total annual output value has exceeded 150 million yuan. Lu Guoping, 43, secretary of the party branch of Zhoutou Village in Jiangxiang Town, once vowed not to be a farmer in his life. Now, he has put on the laurel of "national grain grower" and "national grain producer pacesetter", leading modern agriculture!

Starting in 1999, after 10 years of hard work, Lu Guoping and his Jiangxi Guowang Industrial Co., Ltd. have completed the leap from traditional agriculture to modern agriculture.

The pioneers who contracted 1018 mu of abandoned land and tried to build a modern agricultural model without stopping, and the pioneers who returned to the land reaped a successful career.

Jiangxiang Town is located in the Yellow Lake on the banks of Poyang Lake, where more than 20,000 mu of low-lying fields are called "hanging fields" by the villagers. In the traditional mode of decentralized operation of a family, no matter how hard the villagers work, they can only maintain food and clothing even in a good year.

The poor living environment made Lu Guoping, who was born and raised, hated farm work since childhood and once vowed that he would never be a farmer in his life.

After graduating from high school in 1986, Lu Guoping categorically left home and went out to work. He studied electrician, planted mushrooms, did a small business, and then set up a factory and started a sack processing business.

On an accidental business exchange, he walked into the countryside of Jiading District, Shanghai. All the farmland there is under pastoral management and mechanized farming, and the traditional farming mode has been replaced by the modern farming mode.

Shocked by the pastoral landscape, Lu Guoping, who has always regarded farming as a fear of the road, came up with the idea of bringing the Shanghai model back to his hometown.

In 1998, Jiangxi suffered the worst flood in a century, resulting in the abandonment of 1018 mu of low-lying land in Zhoutou Village, Jiangxiang Town. As soon as he returned to his hometown from Shanghai, Lu Guoping, then deputy director of the village committee, resolutely made the most important choice of his life. With the full support of governments at all levels and village committees, Lu Guoping signed the management right of these 1018 mu of low-lying land for 20 years at a price of 160 yuan per mu, registered Jiangxi Guowang Industrial Co., Ltd., and started his road of large-scale farming.

The land is still that piece of land, and the tillers are still local farmers, but the "farmland aircraft carrier" formed after the transfer of land shows a magical charm. Over the course of a year, Lu Guoping harvested more than 450000 kilograms of rice, making a net profit of more than 100,000 yuan excluding expenses and costs.

In the following years, Lu Guoping contracted more and more land, and the level of modern farming became higher and higher, from farming to harvesting and drying, all mechanized.

In 2002, he renovated 4000 mu of cold paddy fields into dual-purpose fields for fish farming and grain cultivation, expanding single grain production to a variety of industries integrating grain cultivation and aquaculture.

In 2008, Lu Guoping's contracted land increased to 20, 000 mu, with an annual output value of more than 150 million yuan, making him the largest individual grain grower in the country. the land he manages has become a "national pollution-free rice planting base" and a "national agricultural comprehensive development demonstration zone for the construction of a new countryside". The income of local villagers working in his company has increased by several times compared with household planting in the past.

Leading production with modern ideas and scientific practice, and boldly innovating traditional farming models, the road of modern agriculture shines with the wisdom of scientific development everywhere.

Along the way, Lu Guoping has always regarded science and technology as the magic weapon for the development of modern agriculture.

In Jiangxi, Lu Guoping was the first to order weather forecasting services for agricultural production, the first to use soil testing formula fertilization technology on a large scale, the first to use aircraft to spray pesticides, and the first to use rice baking technology.

It is particularly important to keep abreast of weather changes in large-scale farming. Lu Guoping ordered a 24-hour telephone service from the meteorological department at a price of 500 yuan a year. Lu Guoping is still filled with emotion when it comes to this innovation with a small investment and a generous return.

In the summer of 1999, in the first year of contracted operation, Lu Guoping learned from the Meteorological Bureau that there would be sunny weather for 10 days, so he decided to seize the opportunity to play a beautiful "double fight." With the help of the county agricultural machinery department, he invited four combine harvesters and organized six teams to be responsible for harvesting, transporting, ploughing, transplanting rice seedlings, drying grain, and packing them into storage. Harvest more than 200 mu a day, more than 50,000 kilograms of rice into the warehouse, the spectacular scene, stunned the surrounding villagers.
