He Xiaodong's raising eel to earn 400,000 yuan a year
"taking a part-time job is not a long-term solution, and the world of starting your own business is broader." This is the experience summed up by he Xiaodong, a college student returning to his hometown in Zhanggong Community, Yuanshan Town, Pingchang County.
He Xiaodong, with a college degree, has set up an ecological breeding company for Monopterus Albus in Zhanggong Community, his hometown, which mainly produces rice field eel seedlings and carries out adult ecological aquaculture. At present, more than 70 rice field eel seedling breeding ponds have been built, with an annual output of 15000 jin and an annual output value of more than 400,000 yuan. Radiation drives more than 300 farmers to develop fish farming.
He Xiaodong was admitted to the Fisheries Department of Neijiang Agricultural College in 1998 with excellent results. When he first entered school, his mother suddenly suffered a heart attack, and he Xiaodong dropped out of school several times to go home to work to help his frail mother. Because of his poor family, with the support of the village branch, he took out a loan of 8000 yuan to complete his studies. In order to earn money to cure his mother's illness as soon as possible, after graduation, he Xiaodong immediately went to work along the coast and carried the burden of family life with his childish shoulders.
In Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, he Xiaodong worked as a porter, builder and fish bait salesman. He was exhausted by overloaded manual work every day, but his monthly income was only more than 1000 yuan. In the predicament, he actively thought about change and realized a truth: "without a skill, it is very difficult to get rich no matter how much you do." In 2002, he worked in an aquaculture company and devoted himself to learning aquaculture techniques. After five years of hard work, not only did his monthly income rise to 5000 yuan, but he also learned a whole set of techniques for aquatic product incubation, seedling breeding, breeding and epidemic prevention and control.
"I'd rather be a penny boss than a ten-yuan Qiu er." He Xiaodong has always believed that long-term migrant work is not the way, he should start his own business. Through market research, he found that the economic benefit of raising Monopterus Albus is good, and the market is relatively stable, but the characteristic aquaculture in his hometown is still blank, so he decided to go back to his hometown to engage in characteristic aquaculture.
In 2007, he Xiaodong returned to his hometown, rented 3 mu of land in this village, invested 100000 yuan to build 29 eel culture ponds, and began to cultivate ricefield eel. In that year, it produced more than 2000 jin of commodity eel, with an output value of 70, 000 yuan. In the following year, he decided to expand the scale of farming, but encountered financial difficulties. Watching a pool full of ricefield eels stretching out their heads to eat feed, he Xiaodong was so sweaty that he decided to sell his house in Pingchang County. But the wife disagreed: "where do we live if we sell the house?" The children have to go to school! " He Xiaodong said: "there is no house we can rent, and when the scale of farming expands, we will buy a big house in three or five years." After selling his house, he Xiaodong invested 170000 yuan in the rice field eel farm.
At present, 70 eel seedling breeding ponds have been built in the farm, and a heating incubation pool, a medicine room and an animal protein bait factory have been built. At the beginning of this year, he invested another 330000 yuan to lease a mouth of Shanpingtang in his village, set up 120 cages in the pond, covering an area of 600m2, built a new maggot breeding plant with a daily output of 80kg. He said that this year, it is expected to produce 7500 kilograms of eel, which can achieve an output value of more than 400000 yuan at current market prices.
"the investment in special aquaculture is small and the effect is quick." When it comes to future development, he Xiaodong is full of confidence. He decided to continue to expand the scale, with rice field eel culture as the leader, and gradually increase special aquaculture species such as Qingbo, white crucian carp, big-mouth catfish and Loach; and take "company + peasant households" as the development model, with the company providing seedlings and unified recycling products, fully mobilize local farmers to develop special fish culture, expand the farming area, increase aquaculture production and varieties, and strive to develop aquaculture into a rich industry for local farmers to increase their income.
